"...The US naturally has an interest in helping Pakistan defeat the terrorist-designated “Balochistan Liberation Army” that’s been menacing this resource-rich region. .."

Typically US imperialist/capitalist interests are ignoring the legitimate claims for independence and autonomy by the resident indigenous Balochistanis. The US lobby will "capture" the Pakistani regime and in short time the new trading port will be militarised by USA in order to destabilise Iran and Afghanistan and interrupt China's Belt and Road project.

Pakistan location is strangely but a very important geographical location.

Any downstream trade or movement from Bactria region or the western china towards Arabians sea will move from Pakistan. The Himalayan mountains prevents most movement between india and china.

Pakistan perfectly levraging its land to gain benefits form US.

China and US are in standstill in eastern china sea front. Will US gains an front on western China through Pakistan.

I don't think a major realignment of Pakistan's strategy Westwards is going to happen. Although some Pakistan factions maybe feeling out possible ways to balance Chinese influence, Beijing is offering and has delivered far more than Washington can be reasonable expected to.

Serious Chinese infrastructure is all through Pakistan thanks to CPEC and the May 7th scrap has shown that Chinese military equipment and assistance has real teeth.

Pakistan's major security threat is still India and China is the only reasonable counter balance to that.

A pivot to the US makes a civil war inside the Pakistani military possible. The side with ISI support wins.

Now it is clear why UK drew borders creating Pakistan. A strategic location. Chinese influence will win in the long run.

The Pakistaneses équation come from Kissinger-Nixon and their game with China against USSR.

Then, the things were simple: Usa-China-Pakistan. Vs. USSR(Russia)India.

There is no more antagonism between China and Russia.

What is better for China? A new friendship with India or a strange position with Pakistan submitted totally to USA?

Is there one of them more reliable than other?

What is better for India? Keeping China as foe and begging for USA ruling with Pakistan? Or friendship with China?

Once more, the action of Iran will be fondamental in the game.
