Azerbaijan’s shadow membership in NATO through its conformation with the bloc’s standards and alliance with Turkiye has now expanded into a de facto alliance with Ukraine that naturally spikes Russia’s threat assessment of Azerbaijan.
If you are right, then the Azerbaijani 'elite' has forgotten two or three small details:
1. Its territory is eight times smaller than that of Ukraine.
2. It does not directly border three NATO countries.
3. It has Iran to the south, to which it has recently done several nasty things.
4. It is openly allied with Israel, making it unpopular among Muslim populations.
5. Its own population will not die for it.
6. Turkey will shout loudly but will not risk a war with Russia to defend it.
7. A rapid, decisive invasion of the coastal plain by Russia will not create many more diplomatic problems for Russia and could, in one stroke, solve all its problems in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
8. This might even be part of a deal with the USA, which could not care less about these regions except to put pressure on the Russians.
Russia insists that it wasn't responsible for MH17; the jury is still out over who did it so it's really up to each person to decide which version they believe.
Dude, the jury isn't still out. The Dutch criminal trial at the Hague convicted 3 of 4 (Pulatov acquitted). You lost the International Civil Aviation Organization civil case. You lost the European Court of Human Rights civil case.
Netherlands-led Joint Investigation Team investigation - lost again. And maybe more.
"Pro-Russian Donetsk separatists took down MH17 with a Buk missile killing all 298.
Just like:
Israel attacked the USS Liberty spy ship in 1967, killing 34, and wounding 171.
USSR shot down KAL 902 on 1978 near Murmansk, most survived
USSR shot down KAL 007 in 1983 near Sakhslin killing 269.
USA shit down Iran Air 655 over the Persian Gulf in 1988, killing 290.
Ukraine shot down Siberian Airlines flight 1812 in October 2001 heading TLV to OVB.
Iran's IRGC shot down a Ukraine Airways flight after takeoff from Tehran killing all 176.
"Dude" (why address me informally when you don't even know me???), there are also several other competing hypotheses about what happened, but ultimately, I really don't care what anyone thinks.
Why would you directly address me with, "You lost the..."? "You"? You think I had something to do with it, "dude"? Or did you mistakenly assume that I'm Russian? Another low-IQ shill? GTFOH, you should be ashamed of yourself.
My take: I assume that no one at any level of command on any of the sides knowingly gave an order to shoot down a passenger airplane full of civilians. It was an accident nomatter who did it. It is possible that the Kiev regime intentionally routed the plane over a combat zone hoping that it would be shot down and the Russians would be blamed but no evidence has been presented to support this.
This shootdown is similar to the 1988 shootdown of an Iranian passenger airliner except that:
1) The USS Vincennes was 5000 miles away from its nearest border while whoever shot down MH17 was close to their own neighborhood.
2) The crew of the Vincennes was given combat medals. No one was awarded a medal for shooting down MH17
From the word 'go;', the Dutch were so protected of their russophobic propaganda present, they never let Russia be present into their investigations on what truly happened.
Only true for the initial part of ONE investigation - the Dutch-led JIT criminal investigation (NL, BE, AU, UA). And by late 2014 Malaysia was included as a full member of that team also (https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2014/12/01/mh17-malaysia-to-be-part-of-investigating-team/). Initial exclusion was attributed to other JIT members' concerns about handling classified intelligence and revealing data acquisition sources, and about managing evidence-sharing agreements,
Malaysia conducted it's own technical investigation and intelligence reviews, but they also remained within the JIT framework and concurred with its conclusions.
Six intelligence agencies conducted investigations; Germany, UK, US, Malaysia, Russia and Ukraine.
Malaysia participated in the ICAO proceedings and the ECHR proceedings.
Every formal state, judicial and aviation investigation outside Russia came to "the dominant conclusion."
John Helmer at Dances with Bears has closely (too closely) monitored that topic, and the Dutch courts, and from all the documents dug up - that was true journalistic feat, my conclusion is that it was a cover-up operation to switch blame on Russia.
"The sophisticated weapons in Russia’s arsenals serve not as ornaments, but as instruments of finality. Their deterrent power dissolves into mere theater under a leadership that hesitates to used them at the appropriate times.
How many more Russian civilians must die? How many more commanders will be eliminated with impunity? How many more violations of sovereign soil will be absorbed?
Each unanswered strike is not an exercise in restraint, but a broadcast of vulnerability. It signals to those driving this escalation, through NATO’s proxy and America’s pretend diplomacy, that their calculus is correct, that their limits may be pushed further.
There is a point beyond which patience ceases to be strategic and becomes instead an invitation for greater audacity. The gloves, as you say, are not merely off; they must be forged into steel. History does not judge the meek who possessed the sword but feared its weight. It demands decisive action. The response must be absolute, and it must silence the enemies of the state with a clarity that echoes through every capital in the West.
The hour for symbolic gestures is past. The time for definitive, overwhelming consequence is at hand. The Kremlin must respond not with a harsh statement, but with an ending. Enough is enough!"
I wonder how China would feel if "NATO" reaches deep into Central Asia and Kazakhstan... since they share a border. Maybe they will be more empathic towards Russia?
«Azerbaijan Risks Placing Itself On A Ukrainian-Like Collision Course With Russia»
That "risks" sounds euphemistic to me considering that the azeri national holiday is "hate russians day" to celebrate the azeris who massacred and cleansed the armenians and when the red army troops tried to re-establish order they attacked them to free Azerbaijan from russian oppression.
Yep sure. However, Russia would need military allies like Iran. And unfortunately, Iran decided to stick its nose in things that are beyond its interest.
How badly Putin has screwed Russia, it's unbelievable. Almost like Vučić with Serbia. Everyone has their role. Otherwise, the last ruler of Russia who was a Russian was Tsar Peter III. He was 50% Russian and an idiot, and his wife Catherine had him killed. After that we had 8 generations of 100% Germans, and after them those from the Pale of Settlement. Russians are a people that have been destroyed, drilled into the ground, and it's already in their DNA.
Russia wouldn't be there in the first place without the Germanic Varäger after which it is called. With Jews - they probably had an early influence too, which you can see for example from the Russian alphabet - a number of Hebrew letters that are absent in Latin or Greek.
The influence extended beyond then. For example, Chabad's Alter Rebbe helped firm up support for the Tsar during the French-Russian war in 1812.
The best excuse for Russia to intervene in Azerbeijan is in defense of threatened Armenia. That is why Armenia's progressing alienation is such a disastrous development, that should be stopped. Russia is rich and influential enough to sponsor factions in Armenia, and probably has intelligence presence there. Why can the lame US agencies increase their influence so effectively, and Russia cannot? What is wrong with that apparatus?
Note that the collision course with Russia was the best thing that ever happened to the Ukrainian ruling class.
The Azeris see that and they don't want to avoid such a fate. They want them a piece of that. Armenia, similar.

Even if we took all that as granted, so what? The Azeri elite will do just fine playing victim.
Thank you for this insightful article.
So the Russian did apologize but never did for MH17. Do we know with certainty who shot down MH17?

They didn't allow Malaysia neither. It was a Malaysian fly but they didn't Malaysia to put its nose in this file. Incredible'

Yes. That was the program in Ukraine in 2022.
Is it too late now ?

«To make matters even worse, he now just agreed to co-produce arms with Ukraine, thus making Azerbaijan an official co-belligerent against Russia.»
Ukraine has co-production of arms with several countries and the RF government has ignored that.

USA can shower Armenia with dollars. Which can be used to buy every stuff you want, including Chinese.
