Bangladesh is a miniature country even in comparison to Poland or Ukraine and has over 170 million residents. The overwhelming majority is Muslim. Add up the extreme population density with Muslim historical experiences and you can see a future leader rising with aggressive desires for territorial gains..

While Bangladesh’s assertive pivot toward China and Pakistan may be an understandable hedge against Indian dominance, especially given historic asymmetries, it’s a dangerous gamble that risks triggering the very threats it hopes to deter.

In geopolitics, perceived weakness invites pressure, but overplaying a weak hand, especially by stoking territorial anxieties or signaling alignment in a potential multi-front war, could provoke a disproportionate Indian response that Bangladesh is ill-prepared to absorb.

Strategic leverage is real, but so is geography, and for a smaller neighbor boxed in by larger powers, stability and restraint often buy more influence than brinkmanship.
