Bloomberg, most likely has skin in this war. After all, many of their subscribers might go into a selling frenzy if they knew how bad the war against Iran can become.

Thanks for your insight.

Thank you Andrew for an excellent article that explains and clears misunderstading of uncertainties in current world scenario.

Even inside Brics, even if there are some disputes. Like India China border issue. But the main goal remains same for most countries that join Brics. And I think that it is about what is the most efficient way to improve themselves where the western world in particular is trying to push these countries down in some way or another.

Who, inside the BRICS', have the interest to allow and even promote an army of propagandists like Escobar who spread bullshits on this topic.

We saw absolutely nobody in BRICS accusing directly one of those jesters of saying craps.

I'd be very surprised if India lets him attend September's BRICS Summit in Delhi like he's attended the last two in Brazil and Russia.

Darras's avatar

Sure, but it would not be in relation with his propagandism.

Just a retaliation after a unbearable insult.

We didn't see or hear an chinese, russian or brasilian and even Indian official claiming that too much is too much and Escobar and the gang must stop spreading false intentions about their countries.

It really is surreal when you step back and think about how it looks that the same guy who's friends with Lavrov, Zakharova, and a bunch of other important officials, experts, and even military figures (he's also friends with General Apti Alaudinov) is spreading fake news about close Russian partners and lending it credence by citing unnamed sources that his followers will likely assume are Russian.

I can't imagine an active information warfare campaign like this, and that's literally what it is, being waged by someone similarly close to the above's analogues in China, Iran, the US, the UK, Turkiye, India, etc., it's a uniquely (and very shameful in my opinion!) Russian phenomenon.

Indian officials are very reticent with public statements. This increased with Dr Jaishankar as FM.

But they do track these cases closely. It's a very legalistic approach as our courts tend to favour leftists and outsiders.

Immerhin etwas! ;-)))

Be that as it may within the context of BRICS. But Modi was feted and greeted (and duly hugged) by Netanyahu at Tel Aviv virtually on the eve of the Israel-US attack on Iran. He even received a make believe medal of honor from Israel. He did not send a personal or official note of condolence to Iran on the assassination of its supreme leader. His government cosponsored the UN resolution condemning Iran for its attacks on Gulf States. There has been no official Indian condemnation of the initial Israel-US attack on Iran.

If all these don't suggest Modi chose sides, I can't imagine what more could he have done to make it clear India is far from neutral in this conflict. Sent a batch of Brahmos missiles to Israel?

In spite of all these, Iran has been allowing Indian oil and gas tankers passage through the Hormuz Strait. It is not doing this because it is unaware of Modi's actions/inactions. Perhaps Iran remembers its centuries-old economic and sociocultural ties with India, and it is looking ahead to longer term relationships with a post-Modi India which will remain one of its largest customers.

But you should make a distinction. BRICS+ is an economic cooperation. Not a political one nor a military one. Egypt and Ethiopia are in the same economic block yet they're enemies.

Same mistake Europeans make. Jaishankar has been maintaining the same stance for years. We don't take sides.

The timing of Modi's trip to Israel appears unfortunate. Let's say it was a month earlier. No one would have talked about it.

Darras's avatar

I don't think so. A member of BRICS trading with Israel, it's OK, a head of state of BRICS doing a diplomatic visit in Israel while pzlestinian genocide, it would be weird, even UE didn't dare it.

But such a diplomat-porn show in Israël is a big fault. Modi is the only one with Trump to show a so disgusting footage.

Widerlich.

TL:DR: BRICS is but a glorified dorm room bull session.

The western think-tankers are desperately longing for a familiarity of a Warsaw Pact type of organization. The old good times with clearly defined friends and foes.

Sehr fortschrittlich, gell?

BRICS is a loosely is no formal alliance, just a group of contries that are not alligned with any Western alliance
