Let us hope they can resolve and overcome historic animosities, protect their minorities, and form a useful counterweight to globalism. It will certainly be useful when the EU and NATO start to collapse.

Cro-Alb Alliance replicates ww2 alliances in Balkans and it serves to balance the vacuum that may be created with US' withdrawal from Balkans, namely occupied Serbian region Kosovo and Metohija. In practice it serves to threaten Serbia should it want to fill the void and restore its sovereignty. Hungary's alliance with Serbia is for the purpose of counterbalance within NATO and could prevent NATO 's involvement when Croatia and Albania decide to strike Serbia (protecting Kosovo and Metohija's occupation). NATO could effectively be sidelined, which would make Croats and Albanes recontemplate plans for attack.

The need for something like Višegrad group is the first sign that something is out of tune in EU and one may argue it is the first crack in its foundation. In my view, EU is bound to split into several groups, along the lines of the several rail roads it is already on. Perhaps Slvk-Hngr-Srb aliance is the evolution of the idea which created Višegrad. Local aliances emulating all that was good with EU and ditching all the rest coild be the next phase. Once we see where Romania and Bulgaria stand on this alliance, a better view can be formed.
