The West has not been able to hold peace or respect treaties for the last 30 years. Asking the legality questions is important for the Russian intellectuals (Mr. Putin included), but the issues will have to be decided in the battlefield. As time goes by, I hope the Russian planners get more time to spend on the pacification stage. The Malaysian counterinsurgency lasted 30+ years (depending on how you count the beginning and the end). Russians cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of Stalin and Khrushchev made w.r.t. the Banderite.

The issue is moot because the "peace process" is already transitioning back to chaos because feckless Trump refuses to lead. He had a small window in which neocons seemed to be on the back foot, but the window shut again. Mr Putin and team should just re-focus on the battlefield and forget about the reality show president and the European clowns.
