Putin was as always, absolutely correct. The problem of Danzig could have been solved diplomatically.

Alas, Polands leadership class had managed to convince themselves of the nonsense that their friends in the west would gallantly ride to the rescue.

The parallels to today are worrying.

I think this all boils down to "Poland cannot trust Western Europe," which is certainly historical truth. Given their history, it speaks well of the Poles that they are not all stark raving paranoids.

It does make Americans worried about poor people immigrating look pretty silly in comparison, does it not?
