The reason why this obviously implied Color Revolution intent behind CNN’s latest agitprop is so pathetic and bound to fail is because it’s essentially the equivalent of if famous US actor Steven Seagal – who received Russian citizenship in 2016 – said that he’s ready to kill his fellow Americans in Iraq for instance.
CNN headlined a piece on their front page declaring that “’Russia’s Rambo’ – Once A Putin Favorite – Says He’d Now Fight For Ukraine And Feels ‘Nothing But Hatred’ For His Home Country”. It reports that a once-famous actor from over a decade and a half ago, whose starring role in a film at the time about the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan earned him and his team a private meeting with President Putin, defected to Latvia. CNN then portrays his treasonous intent to kill his compatriots as supposedly heroic.
This is a pathetic attempt to manipulate perceptions within Russia and the US-led West’s Golden Billion alike that’s bound to fail because of how blatant it is but is nevertheless worthwhile analyzing precisely because of that. CNN seemingly hopes that massively amplifying this has-been celebrity’s treason and portraying it as heroic will influence its two targeted audiences into thinking that President Putin’s approval rating is rapidly dropping despite a recent poll showing that it still stands at 74.3%.
The only reason why they’d invest the time and money in commissioning someone to write about this is because their editors believe that it’ll have a tangible effect on shaping people’s attitudes about the Russian leader’s popularity, after which they expect that they’ll act upon these warped views. As ridiculous as it may sound to any objective observer, CNN seems to really think that this agitprop will contribute to provoking a Color Revolution in Russia, if not being the catalyst that sets it into motion.
That leading US-led Western Mainstream Media (MSM) outlet apparently predicts that their weaponized information warfare narrative will provoke Russians into massively protesting against President Putin after supposedly being inspired by the so-called “Russian Rambo’s” betrayal. In parallel, they also appear to predict that Western funding will spill into Russia en masse after influential folks in the US’ intelligence services are supposedly also inspired by CNN’s report to prioritize financing this.
The reason why this obviously implied Color Revolution intent behind CNN’s latest agitprop is so pathetic and bound to fail is because it’s essentially the equivalent of if famous US actor Steven Seagal – who received Russian citizenship in 2016 – said that he’s ready to kill his fellow Americans in Iraq for instnace. No serious member of the Russian intelligence services would assess that provocation as supposed evidence of an impending Color Revolution in the US that’s worth funding.
After all, no patriotic American of any partisan disposition could accept one of their own taking up arms against their compatriots no matter what their respective causes may be since that’s bonafide treason. Similarly, no patriotic Russian would ever accept what the so-called “Russian Rambo” just said that he’s considering, nor would they react to it by spilling into the streets to organize a Color Revolution against their government.
It’s literally cringe-worthy that CNN expects otherwise in the Russian scenario and that’s why they invested in commissioning someone to portray this has-been celebrity’s treason as heroic. That leading MSM outlet is a private company that can waste its funds on whatever it wants, but it’s still worthwhile drawing attention to this latest failed agitprop since it speaks to how unprofessional the US’ information warfare capabilities are that anyone seriously thought that this would succeed in any way whatsoever.
Awful Avalanch had a piece about this actor and his costar recently. Apparently the costar is fervently pro-Russian.
