I don't think "imperialism" is a good word to describe any of it. The British controlling India (among other places) and exploiting its land and its population is imperialism. Incidents of ethnic cleansing and genocide inside one's own country (usually in border regions) is something else, I think. Something completely different.

Take, for example, 1990 Armenian pogroms in Baku. I realize it's a much lower scale, but still: was that 'imperialism'? It just doesn't fit, this word. And of course 'imperialism' doesn't describe the Soviet republics, nor the post WWII "east-European" Socialist countries either. Imo.

So the Nazis were now righteous anti imperialists? Genocide is just high spirited patriotism?
