Indians now see for themselves that the West doesn’t really care about bigotry after Der Spiegel’s shameless expression thereof and the absence of condemnation from its peers in response, which will result in that de facto New Cold War bloc losing even more hearts and minds there than before. This incident is therefore very instructive since it informs observers of the “inconvenient” reality behind the West’s interconnected “political correctness” and “rules-based order” rhetoric.
Leading German news outlet Der Spiegel published a crude caricature of India after its population surpassed China’s, which prompted a furious reaction from ruling officials and average members of society. They condemned the depiction of their country as an outdated and overcrowded train spewing smog as it pulls ahead of an environmentally friendly and ultra-modern Chinese bullet train. This image was regarded as a blatantly racist attack, which shows how condescendingly the West sees India.
Many have already suspected that this de facto New Cold War bloc silently harbors such supremacist sentiments against what’s now the world’s most populous country, but it was still surprising to see this so shamelessly propagated by one of its most influential media outlets, let alone Germany’s. After all, it’s considered to be the EU’s informal leader, which thus makes it the standard-bearer of the West’s so-called “political correctness”.
The contemporary implementation of this concept is to “cancel” whatever influential forces regard as symbols of bigotry in their society, but critics claim that this has been exploited by the West’s ruling liberal-globalist elite to politically neutralize their opponents and thus consolidate their power. Whatever one’s personal views are about this trend, it’s indisputable that Der Spiegel just went against everything that the West purports to represent, which is another reason why this incident was so shocking to many.
The reality is that the so-called “rules-based order” that the US-led West’s Golden Billion is aggressively attempting to impose onto the rest of the world is nothing more than double standards intended to advance America’s interests at everyone else’s expense. Everything is weaponized to that end, especially the concept of “political correctness”, which is employed to manipulate popular perceptions about whatever it is that this de facto New Cold War bloc’s ruling elite has decided to target at any given time.
By accusing the conservative opposition of bigotry on questionable or even sometimes outright false pretexts, they aim to pressure people into self-censoring their public expressions of support for those forces out of fear that others might wrongly regard them as bigoted too if they associated with them. The Mainstream Media (MSM) is then able to artificially manufacture the information warfare narrative alleging that these same forces supposedly aren’t popular and only represent the radical fringe.
This is intended to make their supporters think that there’s no point in voting for them during the next elections since they’re doomed to lose anyhow, thus leading to them either not participating in that process or possibly backing other candidates instead. The outcome is that these same countries’ electoral processes are manipulated through indirectly state-sponsored means upon their ruling elite accusing the opposition of bigotry and setting into motion that sequence of events.
On the foreign front, accusing countries like India of bigotry exactly as the BBC did earlier this year in its provocative “documentary” is meant to smear their reputations, which in turn is intended to impose economic and security costs upon them. Western businessmen who fall under that aforementioned impression about this country might think that it’s a risky or immoral place to invest in, while certain minorities there might feel emboldened to violently lash out against the authorities in response.
The combined effect could serve to pressure the targeted country into making unilateral policy concessions in exchange for a relief from this malicious information warfare offensive that weaponizes “political correctness” for strategic ends. In the Indian context, the West wants Delhi to sacrifice its objective national interests by dumping Russia in parallel with extending investment privileges to their multinational corporations at the expense of India’s own small- and medium-sized businesses.
Whenever the agenda behind these Hybrid Warfare attacks is exposed by their targets, the West gaslights the public by claiming that the domestic or international accuser is “lying” and “paranoid”. The MSM then immediately reminds everyone of that de facto New Cold War bloc’s supposedly strict compliance with its notion of “political correctness” in an attempt to convince them that there’s no basis to accuse the West of double standards in this respect.
That’s no longer possible with regards to India, however, after Der Spiegel just showed the hypocritical truth behind the “rules-based order” concept. This leading MSM outlet’s crude caricature of that country showed how condescendingly the West sees it, which in turn discredits any further claims that their perception managers might make about the alleged sincerity of their society’s commitment to “political correctness” when it comes to “raising awareness” (as they frame it) of alleged bigotry in India.
