The preparations for World War 3 continue step by step.

They are psychopaths who want to plunge their populations into misery...

It's unlikely that EU will maintain a quasi-war posture while US and Russia reach a detente. If the USA inflates its manufacturing capacity, Germany and its affine states will need more Russian and Chinese trade. Over the last 4 years, German industrial situation has been steadily deteriorating.

Stein Bauge's avatar

It will take a decade to get a big increase in manufacturing. Trump apparently seeks to end the US empire in some advantageous way.

"The aforementioned provocation coincides with the passing of a law allowing Estonia to sink foreign vessels that it deems to pose a national security threat. It’s possible that this could be the next planned regional escalation".

Estonia may have a law of its own authorising the sinking of foreign vessels. Regardless, that would be an act of war.

The three Baltic states, Finland, Georgia, and of course Ukraine have put themselves into positions of hopeless disadvantage by trying to hurt Russia and merely hurting themselves far worse.

They - like some of the -stans and Armenia - pretended that freedom from Russia when the USSR dissolved itself was some kind of blessing. On a practical level, though, it was a curse. Russia gave those countries far more than they ever gave it. That's why most pragmatic Russians - including the Russian leadership - were happy to let those countries secede, and have never even suggested trying to take them back.

Except, of course, for Ukraine - which was weaponised by the USA as a spear pointed at the heart of Russia. The Special Military Operation is something like what Washington used to call a "police action": its only purposes are to save the Russian-speaking population from persecution and murder, and to disarm Ukraine so that it cannot be used to attack Russia.

Finland is the latest country to suffer gravely from its political leaders' moronic decision to antagonise Russia. The Baltics have been bleeding population, money, and prosperity ever since 1991, and now Finland has chosen to join them.

I have learned that the heads of state in Europe, e.g. Prime Ministers, instead of just giving orders, they take orders. I have also learned from the perspective of PM Viktor Orban, that George Soros and his community have infiltrated the EU and are the cause of much of the destruction of Europe including the mass Muslim immigration into all of the EU countries (except those countries that are in the process of resisting). Whether it is Soros or the Intel agencies or other globalist elites, or all of them, the EU countries are being led off a cliff. The people of these countries are unable to mount any kind of action in their own defense, because when they do get a leader who speaks for them, that leader is taken out whether by attempted assassination, (Fico) character assassination, (Le Pen) fake criminal charges (lawfare)(Le Pen) and they are not allowed to run(Georgescu). This has happened in Romania, France, Germany (AfD) and will continue to happen until such time as the people rise up en masse and remove the elites who are trying to crush their dissent. The most important thing is for the people to not give up hope, but to be determined to get their countries back from those who want to own them: the countries and all the people in them. We are all in a spiritual war of good vs. evil. And we must make sure that good triumphs.

The Balts are unhinged in my opinion, and stupid.

The only action that I actually condone is this one:

"As if these moves weren’t provocative enough, Estonia just passed a law requiring the Estonian Chrisitan Orthodox Church to sever its canonical ties with the Russian Orthodox Church. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharov reacted to this by denouncing “the systematic destruction of fundamental human rights and freedoms continues under the guise of far-fetched, so-called democratic slogans. Once again, a blow has been dealt to one of the most sensitive areas – religious rights and freedoms.”"

I noticed that such actions create a lot of hysteria in Russia. One can see the innumerate numbers of articles on the RT, with Moldova blocking the trip of the Bishop linked to the Moscow Patriarchy to go to Jerusalem for the Holly Fire and allowing this trip to the Metropolitan of Bessarabia, who responds to the Romanian Orthhodox Church Patriarchy, which is autochephalic.

Let me explain, During the Ottoman occupation or vasselage, all Orthodox Christians were shepperded by the Constantinopolitan Patriarchy, run by good for nothing Greeks, which acted only to their own personal/clan interest and that of their master, the Ottoman Sultan. As such, a lot of land ended up donated to Greek Monasteries and we don't know what was said during Sunday services and other minutia. An example of this "maleability" we saw recently with the Patriarch Bartolomew of Constantinopol granting independence status to the new Ukrainian Church.

As soon as those peoples got their countries, they created autocephalic Churches, the serbs, the romanians, the bulgarians.

So, there are little things that can be coordinated from Moscow. I am not saying that Moscow Patriarchy acts like the Second Interncom or what not, but it will definitely try to taper down the nationalist spirit.

Now, I don't mind if the orthodox russian ethnic minorities want to stay and belong to Moscow Patriarchy. After all we have the Catholics all over turning to Rome and the Pope. But, like in Moldova, trying to claim the majority ethnic Romanians (Moldovans east of River Prut are the same as Moldovans west of River Prut, ethnic Romanians), that is a bit too much if you ask me. And as much as I understand Russians struggle against the evil empire right now, this clamoring for primacy on spiritual areas when it is not their place in the first place, where we are talking about flocks stolen from other shepperds, is unbecoming.

If I was living in Estonia I would do three things now:

1, I would vehemently work to take the government under control.

2, Move away from the Russian border area.

3, Place my passport into my pocket every night before I go to sleep.

“As much as the Russians have to endure these humiliations, they will not stop until they are defeated in the military field, the Russians are still in a deep sleep and have no idea who they are dealing with. All these humiliations and the tacit drawing of false red lines by the Kremlin oligarchy will lead to a rebellion among the Russian Slavic man and where the famous Third World War will eventually break out, and there will be a great terrible revenge of the Russian people and the restoration of its dignity on the world stage that it deserves. Ever since liberal idiots run the West, and especially the liberal women who are the biggest proponents of World War III, the example is the Tin of Foreign Affairs of the EU, which no one has chosen to lead Europe into the Abyss of No Return on behalf of the people of Europe!!”

I understand Stevo. I certainly hope the “West” has learned their mistake in Ukraine, and they stop “poking the bear”

Angelina's avatar

Unfortunately, as the story teaches us, the West learned nothing, even if its greedy mug gets smacked by Russia over and over again:-)

Denis's avatar

What the West has learned is that Putin is soft and afraid to do what needs to be done: total victory in Ukraine. Even the EU, unprepared as they are, are preparing to fight Russia. lol Even Estonia is now pushing for hostilities against Russia, not because it thinks it can win, but because Russia is passive and reluctant to defeat Ukraine.

This is why Ukrainian elections were cancelled as well as Romanian, etc. But the Balts may in fact be too brainwashed to vote for self-preservation anyway. A lot of Europeans who are emotionally lashing out against Trump suffer from this problem.

As if what happened to Ukraine wasn't a clear lesson of what expects them.

Nikos's avatar

The problem with suicidal useful idiots like Estonia is that imagine that the Americans will run to save them. They make a tragic mistake because they have nothing to offer about.

Feral Finster's avatar

So, what does Russia propose to do about it? Estonia acts the way it does because Russian dithering and indecision have caused it to lose all fear of Russia.

Angelina's avatar

Estonia behaves this way because it thinks it's just as "special" to the West and Ukraine used to think. Nobody would do anything for the Balts, if the push comes to shove and Russia had enough.

Feral Finster's avatar

Obviously, Tallinn disagrees. The whole point is to provoke a Russian response, then Russian response, then scream Article 5.

Denis's avatar

I've been saying repeatedly that Russia needs to force a Ukrainian surrender to show it means business and dissuade other insignificant countries like Estonia and the larger countries from becoming emboldened to aggression against Russia. Putin is starting to look weak because his government officials and oligarchs are too friendly and in a hurry to conduct business with the West. Maybe they're all in the same club, as some suggested. But at what cost for all this lollygagging tomfoolery? And what are patriotic Russians dying for? To enrichen the oligarch class? I suspect that Putin will settle for much less than what could have been achieved without establishing a long-term peace. And, if I'm wrong, I'll admit it. We'll see how this circus act turns out.

Ladyc's avatar

Putin was actually smarter to fight a war of attrition- one that was never dramatic enough to lead to a larger western response and instead bled them dry slowly until public opinion got bored and then Trump showed up. Western populations have little patience and expect it to be like a fantasy ww2 movie that is over in 2 hours.

Nakayama's avatar

Can the Russian government help those trapped in Estonia who want to emigrate to Russia in some aspects? They can be resettled right along the eastern border of Estonia if there is suitable land and housing. Within a decade or two, the Kalinin Oblast had better remain mostly military.

Ladyc's avatar

Andrew, do you think it is possible that the 90-day pause on tariffs that will bring about negotiations might give way to back-room discussions between the US and EU whereby Trump can be more blunt that if the EU wants to sabotage the Ukraine peace deal, then maybe it will get worse tariffs? Estonia is clearly being cultivated by the UK and France faction, but the UK also wants a trade deal as its economy is so weak. If Trump is aiming for a new economic order that is replacing Bretton Woods 2.0, with the trade umbrella and the security umbrella intertwined, the US won’t want to backstop European attempts to provoke a new conflict with Russia. So not only the Balts but their globalist backers in Starmer and Macron have to be brought to heel using carrots & sticks on trade and NATO?

Chris's avatar

We must resist judging the battle of narratives in black/white terms. Perhaps it's better to view it as a turf war between two mafia blocks. Moscow's "we're just defending ourselves" narrative engenders sympathy but let's remember that (1) as soon as the USSR collapses they created frozen conflicts in Transdnietra, Abkhazia, Karabakh, Ossestia to have leverage on the near abroad; (2) the non -Baltic minorities after WW 2 were not naturally occuring like Hungarians in Slovakia, but the result of colonization during a period (1945-91) that was internationally acknowledged as illegal occupation - just as the Turks are doing with settlers in occupied Cyprus.
