Exposing The Hypocrisy Of Pakistan’s Excuse For Skipping The US’ Second “Democracy Summit”
The US would have preferred for its Pakistani proxies to participate in this year’s summit, but it also understands that there are limits to how far it can force them to take its side in the New Cold War. It’s one thing to order them to reportedly arm Kiev and dillydally in implementing their energy deal with Russia, and another entirely to expect them to publicly exude the impression that they’ve politically aligned with the US against China regarding its narrative about those two’s worldwide competition.
Credit should always be given where it’s due, and that includes acknowledging that Pakistan’s fascist post-modern coup regime made the right decision to skip the US’ second “Democracy Summit” despite the shameless hypocrisy inherent in its official statement. The touting therein of this country’s supposedly “democratic” credentials is discredited by the reality of its rulers’ anti-democratic decision to delay constitutionally mandated regional elections and their brutal crackdown against the opposition.
None of that was of concern to the US, however, which still invited Pakistan to this week’s summit anyhow. Just like the inaugural one in December 2021, this latest event isn’t a celebration of bonafide democracies like the American authorities are spinning it as, but part of the Biden Administration’s attempt to manipulate perceptions about the New Cold War as supposedly being between “democracies” and “dictatorships” instead of between unipolarity and multipolarity like it truly is.
It was for this reason that former Prime Minister Imran Khan (IK) wisely declined participating in it since he envisaged Pakistan balancing between the US-led West’s Golden Billion and the Sino-Russo Entente amidst their worldwide struggle over the future of International Relations. His American-installed successors decisively recalibrated his team’s grand strategy to more closely align it with their patrons’ as evidenced by their reported arming of Kiev, but they remain reluctant to take its side against China.
That’s the real reason why they declined participating in the US’ second “democracy summit”, not the excuse that they provided in their official statement claiming that “Pakistan has not been part of the Summit process that commenced in 2021 and required countries to make certain national commitments”, hence why it’ll instead “engage bilaterally with the United States” on this concept. They’re trying to blame IK for their surprisingly prudent decision, which is very dishonest of them.
Prior to being appointed Foreign Minister for his role in helping to overthrow IK at the US’ behest in collusion with former Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa and other regime change collaborators, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (BBZ) criticized the decision to skip the first summit. He described it as a “mistake” and added in reference to China’s sensitivities that “Even if an ally raises objections, we can raise their views and our views [at the forum] but we should never cede space.”
At the time of this piece’s publication, he has yet to comment on whether he believes that it’s a mistake to skip the second summit too, but he isn’t expected to publicly express the same views for three reasons. First, BBZ is the Foreign Minister so this decision was obviously taken with his approval. Second, he wouldn’t dare criticize his fellow fascists in the regime. And third, BBZ’s prior criticism wasn’t sincere but was pure politics intended to discredit IK while simultaneously gaining American approval.
The fascist post-modern coup regime’s public figures would have loved to be praised by their American masters at that event, but thankfully there still remain some astute policymakers in Pakistan’s military-intelligence establishment who knew that this would doom their country once and for all. Had they not intervened to prevent this potential mistake of unprecedented proportions, then Pakistan would have violated its iron brotherhood with China, thus risking the future of their strategic partnership.
The People’s Republic would have immediately concluded that the fascist post-modern coup regime can’t be trusted in any respect, thus making Beijing less likely to seriously consider extending Islamabad a financial lifeline in the event that one is needed like might soon be the case if the IMF deal isn’t sealed. This scenario was thankfully averted, for which policymakers deserve praise, even though the Foreign Office deserves criticism for its hypocritical statement about this decision as does BBZ for his silence.
