The US is scaling back its direct military commitment to the continent, the only possible exception being the permanent deployment of troops to Poland and its possible participation in the nuclear-sharing program, so France might fill the void as part of “NATO 3.0” and deploy its nukes to Finland.
The sponsorship by the United States of Finland’s accession to NATO appears to have worsened rather than enhanced the security interests of the United States, NATO more generally or of Finland itself.
France invaded Russia a couple of centuries ago, got their ASSES kicked and Napolean fled in a peasants manure wagon.. Paid the peasent in GOLD & sure enough he escaped. Just imagine you are Napolean and had to depend on a peasant to get back to France. France & Germany invaded Russia and took a very big beating. That is why they hate Russia so much.
While I suppose it doesn't matter whose nukes, the US is not scaling back anything but is focusing on Iran for the time being. That's the charitable interpretation.
France has fewer nuclear warheads than the US. Therefore, intuitively, there should be fewer nuclear warheads deployed to Finland, and easier for the Russian GRU to pin down. The threat to St. Petersburg has long been there due to short-range missiles and air-launched munitions. Finland has a smaller population. If they choose to hide all the nukes inside Helsinki, then so be it.
The real issue, IMHO, Is that Russia has all sorts of concentration in two huge metropolitan areas. The Russian Baltic ports are well developed, but they will not be convenient to use for a while. From the old "deep war" strategy, Russia should develop the smaller cities, especially cities like Kazan. China is trying to revive the ancient capital of Xian City for similar reasons.
