Since you can see the Maidan and following up the war in Ukraine as a way to prevent an Europe dominated by a German-Russian alliance (as seen during the efforts to subdue southern and eastern Europe during the EURO crises), the failure to weaken Russia decisively could lead to a solution dissolving the second pillar of this pair(to prevent a repeat in one or two generations).

I think Russia has learned the lesson that they cannot dominate catholic Poland culturally. Therefore, trying to swallow it would be for the Russians a loosing proposition.

If there was for Poland no western neighbour strong enough to dominate it, a military raising the cost of an attack over the benefits of dominating Poland would be enough.

Is it likely in your view that the projected increase in the percentage of Poland’s GDP devoted to defence, and the significant increase in the size of its armed forces, will over time lead to a corresponding increase in the influence of the Polish military on government policy?
