It seems likely that the Syria model has worked again - years of sanctions to impoverish the nation, then bribe key officials to hand over the nation. There was no evidence of resistance, not even a single ManPAD fired at those helicopters, which suggests that, like in Syria, the generals stood down their forces.

Johann Goergen's avatar

Not much longer. US gov debt at $36 x 10^12. That's a large number, getting larger.

Darras's avatar

That last since 1970: 55 years.

In the 80's I already read leftist analysts of the prestigious Monde Diplomatique, with very brillant articles which demonstrated that, ok folks, it's over, USA are about to crash.

What those clever jesters miss at each time is that they always analyse the past.

They have not enough creativity and positivism to imagine what rabbit the US planner will take out the hat.

USA was fucked with gold stallion? They fucked it and invented the petro-dollar.

Their debt began to be the problem of other.

In the 80's they arrived at the end of this system?

They invented globalism and financiarism.

In the end of 90's they arrived at the end of this game?

In 98 Clinton broke the Glass-Steagall act and bank could dive in ocean of money of deposit bank and play with money which didn't belong to them.

That leaded to the crash of 2008?

They invented the Quantitative easing 1, then 2, and even 3.

Not helicopter money, but a bombing of hundreds B52 full of money. Virtual money. Who care?

People like you are always on the previous war.

Johann Goergen's avatar

Which one? Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine? All good times, no doubt. Love your specificity and reasoning. And yeah: 55 years is SUCH a LONG time. Something lasting THAT LONG will surely endure, smile. Let's hang around and find out, brother.

Darras's avatar

You don't understand brother. When the SOB who really rule USA will have no more juice to press in the dying US lemon, they'll change of lemon.

They were on the Spanish lemon during the 16th century, they went to the french lemon in the 17h, in the English one during 19th and 20th.

They press the lemon, we are inside

Feral Finster's avatar

Look at US treasury yields. Every dollar of US government debt issued has a willing buyer at those prices.

Johann Goergen's avatar

Until the madness suddenly stops. Who knows, it may even happen in our lifetime, smile.

Feral Finster's avatar

We've been hearing that one since before I was a kitten. Meanwhile, what do you know that the largest, most liquid and most sophisticated securities market in existence does not?

Johann Goergen's avatar

By "most sophisticated securities market in existence" you mean the folks that give us regular market crashes, such as e.g. in 2008. You are upset. I am, too. But this spook WILL end. There's a real world out there and it does NOT care about hegemony, belligerence and mafia states like the US.

Darras's avatar

And like in Iran and like in Liban.

Roger Langille's avatar

I don't think they used ISIS here like they did in Syria.

Because I'm certain the leader of ISIS who is now the leader of Syria would have been advertising this.

But it wasn't him for them but it was their masters in Israel and Washington.

Darras's avatar

Ok Andrew.

But it's a PR disaster for Russia.

But I think it's not only the western medias which will discredit Russia . And China.

USA bomb Venezuela. USA kidnap Maduro and his wife( Trump says....).

And China nor Russia say anything, do anything.

Do they realise that they doom themself?

Do they think that whoever in this world will trust them in future?

They want to play at the table of superpower but they act like weak countries.

Mr Eric Chan's avatar

Syria falls and its Russia's fault. Israel commits genocide in Gaza and its China's fault. This is ignorance of the highest order if not being convenient idiot agents of the Globalist. Neither Russia nor China signed up to be world policeman. They don't aspire to and do not want. Just look at the two key organizations they are founding members of, BRICS and SCO. Neither Russia nor China have veto or any other special powers in these organizations. It is for better or worse, consensual organizations. Outside or within, they may extend help to foreign sovereigns if are they asked and the sovereign have demonstrated their own people will fight. This is most clearly demonstrated in Novorossiya - the former east Ukraine. If a sovereign does not fight for itself, Syria, or does not seek help, Iran, then they will not unilaterally intervene militarily. They will provide moral support at UN and insist that international laws be followed but they will not commit money and arms unilaterally. Why should they? Their leaders' first responsibility is to their country and its citizens. When the protagonist is the USA then all the more care needs to taken. History is replete with examples of USA provoking its adversaries to spill first blood and claim the moral high ground. In todays nuclear age, more than moral high ground needs to taken into consideration.

Venezuela's fate now rests with its people and the spirit of Bolivar social justice. If they rise up and resist and purge out the traitors and resist the US then there will be hope. Unfortunately many lives will be lost and probably much devastation. Sovereignty and freedom has a steep price. If the Venezuelan people resist, not only will Russia and China support but unlike the compliant Arabs, the whole of Latin American and Caribbean will also stand with them. If they Venezuelan stand down and feel it too dangerous to confront the US then they will live their own doom as a free people.

Darras's avatar

Bla, bla, bla.

Sovereignty is the ability to deter its ennemies and protect your friend.

Russia, in 2015, said to the whole world that it was the protector of Syria.

For 10 years it says that it is the eternal friend of Iran. Same for Venezuela.

Mr Eric Chan's avatar

Yes Mao said something like that, power come the barrel of a gun. That is what the US Rules Based Order has become.

IronK's avatar

if resistance did not exist in iraq, syria, lebanon and other docile arabs as you say then the usa would have long ago both had the economy, strength and morale to take on russia and china.

But thanks to docile arabs who fought against the usa country by country bombs with rocks have delayed the usa from targeting russia or china militarily.

Venezuela is not the first country in south america to be robbed. But you claim that all latin will stand up,. But there were no latinos who stood up for panama, el salvador etc. They are probably as docile as arabs!!!

You can tolerate some bullshit, but not too much.

Mr Eric Chan's avatar

What are you talking about, Russia is just gas station masquerading as a country. China been on the brink of total economic collapse in 1995 2005 2010 2015 2020 and 2025.

Mr Eric Chan's avatar

The only token Arab resistance has been possible because of Iran. Will Latin Americans unite to resist? Too early to tell. 2025 is not 1974 1992 or 2002. Latin America for the first time since colonialization has real hope for economic and social progress. If the US succeeds then Latin America will resort back to banana republic neo colonial vassals.

IronK's avatar

Mr. Erik.

Not everything has happened with a spectacular bicycle.

I am not defending any Arab country, but if you read history you know why the Arabs have been defenseless, plus some Arab countries are ruled by such camel riders as in Saudi.

If Russia and China are as you describe, I do not understand why the USA and the EU spend so much resources on bringing them down when they can just enter their country and take what they want.

Exactly when South America is about to rise up, he either makes them a vassal if they listen or a banana republic as you describe.

But I cannot explain how quickly you get to the finish line if you have not seen the start first.

Mr Eric Chan's avatar

Arab countries being spineless refers to the Gulf State monarchies - Saudi, Yeman, Oman Qatar etc. Yemen an Arab country more than demonstrated their bravery warrior spirit. Guess the Gulf State monarch Arabs had too much to lose having lived a soft life for much too long. This is not the case for the Latin Americans who only in very recent time are starting to taste hope and progress - mostly thanks to China.

The Americans and Europeans thought they could easily topple Russia in 2022 and waltz in take whatever they wanted. Events have shown they were very much mistaken. Some Americans and European thought they could take whatever they wanted from China, in 2025 but was given a cold shower dose of reality.. Unfortunately the vase majority of American and European think this is still possible going forward in 2026.

IronK's avatar

ok, thanks for your insight. The Arabs couldn't get along because of many factors. Don't forget that many Arab countries have many different tribes and peoples that after all the world wars were drawn and with the reason to create internal conflicts, which caused them to become each other's enemies in order to have a common enemy. You may think that they are not intelligent because of that, but that's not the case, because otherwise you would think the same about European leaders today. Then European leaders would be even stupider considering the technology that exists today than what was there 30-50 years ago.

You are absolutely right about the Gulf states, they only exist thanks to the US lobby. They should never have existed, they are cow farmers and it should have stayed there. They are cowardly little shits. Now they are starting to have conflicts with each other, UAE vs Saudi is an example.

Those who have shown bullets are unfortunately the countries that are still in ruins, Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Egypt which looks like an old hag, Sudan which was destroyed. Pakistan which polishes the USA's trophy.

One must admit that the lobby's dirty game has succeeded, so far, the game is not over.

All people who have and have had to endure these should come together regardless of religion and origin and no one for all cut off the head of the snake and cut up the body so that it can never be put back together.

Paul Jurczak's avatar

"And China nor Russia say anything, do anything."

It is still early in the day. There is nothing they could have done immediately. Chinese, and to a lesser degree Russians, think long term. They can't confront USA militarily in Latin America.

Darras's avatar

Paul, for me, BRICS and Russia lost the current geostrategic fight in Kazan at the last BICS summit.

Logically, Russians who won the first part, Poutine, first day of summit called to launch a currency war against the dollar, only way to weaken enough West to make it harmless.

The day after, horrified, I saw Chineses, Indians and Brazilians clucking crazily like big fat panicked turkeys. They madly claimed that they will lovely keep on using dollar and they will not at all attack it. They even forced a russian minister to claim publicly exactly the opposite of what claimed his own president the s

day before.

What an humiliation.

At that moment, I understood the game was over. Just a matter of time.

What followed was meant to confirm my opinion.

Paul Jurczak's avatar

Yes, they lost this and many other fights, but the trend is unmistakable. United States is still the strongest country in the world, but it is slowly accepting the role of Western Hemisphere hegemon, downgraded from the global one. Steering global financial systems away from the dollar is a huge task and may take many decades. The world economy is not doing great, and no one wants to blow up their country's economy by experimenting too much. Well, maybe except of Javier Milei.

Darras's avatar

Not wrong. To be followed.

Darras's avatar

To soon for ones is to late for others.

What is taken is no more to take.

And what is teared from you is very long and hard to recover and often impossible to recover.

Russia and China defied USA in 2013 in opposing against Syria case at UNO.

USA strikes back immediately with the Maidan and the Kiev coup.

Russia defied once more in taking Crimea and part of Donbass.

And it really thrown the iron glove in US face in 22/2/22.

Now it's war. Russia lost it. Fixed in Ukraine, it lost Syria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, it is loosing Venezuela, Iran and is selling all its "friends" to keep a bone to gnaw.

Perhaps I'm wrong. I'm probably wrong but the bound of the whole stuff doesn't smell good.

For a little while longer, the US can bribe emerging countries into submission. But the end is near. Note that there was NO ground invasion and the Venezuelan government is still in charge. Dmitriy Milkin's avatar

Yes, the most important word is WEAKER.

The common thread between them is that the US has decided to take out its weaker adversaries across the world who refuse to submit to it.

Darras's avatar

More than that, understanding that they can't launch a direct war against Russia, USA decided to discredit Russia in submitting or destroying one after one its weak friends and allies.

The message?: "watch out boys, look at the cost of defying USA and look at the kind of protection you can wait from Russia".

Feral Finster's avatar

It worked. Had Russia taken this war seriously, it might have done likewise.

ISergey's avatar

No, she couldn't. She doesn't print dollars.

Feral Finster's avatar

It was impossible for Russia to carry out an effective SEAD campaign? Russia couldn't mobilize more troops, nobody in Ukraine can be bribed, is it?

ISergey's avatar

Russia mobilized when it was needed. But what point are you trying to make with your questions? Could Russia have defeated Ukraine militarily in three days?

Feral Finster's avatar

NATO certainly expected Russia to have done so.

For that matter, recall how Russia was pulling troops off the frontline to participate in meaningless military games. Those troops might have saved Liman.

ISergey's avatar

What does Russia care what NATO generals think? Russia did exactly what it needed to do – it forced Ukraine to sit down at the negotiating table and sign a peace agreement.

Feral Finster's avatar

Demonstrating once again the foolishness of the Russian approach in Ukraine.

eleni's avatar

Not at all. The corrupt Maduros are less corrupt than the Uke gangsters there now. Russia is simply doing what the US did but with more extensive end goals.

Feral Finster's avatar

Whatever you have to tell yourself to keep the fantasy alive.

How many hundreds of thousands died in Ukraine?

eleni's avatar

Astonishing at the level of ignorance - your grossly sick fantasy - when one is motivated to cast blame based on corporate media reporting. The answer as to how many have died in Ukraine is hard to say given the fact that Kiyev is controlled still by psychopaths. When globalists have lost and Ukraine region returns to its just place we might get answers to those questions.

Feral Finster's avatar

Ok, so you have no argument other than dopey insult.

Go ahead and rage. Seethe and cope.

Paul Jurczak's avatar

Well, their initial plan was for a quick regime change operation, similar in tempo to the Venezuela operation. Except they lacked the skills and luck. Many analysts claim that Russia was close to achieving its goals in the first few days.

Feral Finster's avatar

It's obvious that's what Russia intended. Coulda, shoulda, woulda.

Failed.

Paul Jurczak's avatar

True, but don't take it as an assurance that past performance indicate future results.

Great opportunity to compare Trump and Putin as leaders and conclude which one is a loser and which one is a winner.

Denzel Koh's avatar

There are still too many impoverished nations (no thanks to decades of colonisation) around the world that the West led by US can continue to bully. China only managed to reinvent itself in last 40 years and it’s only in Trump’s first term that they deliberately decouple from US influence thanks to sanctions. So holding onto BRICS plus is essential to cement a strong multipolar bloc that can withstand US desperate last gasp of hegemonic thrashing. Unfortunately, Venezuela is not part of BRICS plus so Maduro became easy prey to the swooping Bald Eagle. Doubt Brazil is in same category.

Now Global South nations will be scrambling to join BRICS Plus or start buying J10s

Darras's avatar

BRICS is solid like wind. Not a storm, juste a summer breeze.

"Mission Accomplished!" Trump just like Baby Bush will soon find out that it is not the beginning of the end but merely the end of the beginning. Baby Bush is still looking for those WMDs in Iraq, I am sure Baron will still be looking for those fentanyl pills in Venezuela in 2045.

Darras's avatar

Hey bro', you missed something. Bush and the gang never believed there was those weapons in Irak.

Mr Eric Chan's avatar

Do you mean they were lying when they said they were hunting for WMDs on all the media channels? Oh my Lord, I am shattered, my whole world view is collapsing. Where are my meds?

John Poland's avatar

This action in Venezuela could be the start of a genuinely positive change for the country. Perhaps it could lead to a libertarian / free market reform along the lines of what is happening in Argentina. I sincerely hope the 3-letter agencies do not co-opt it and simply change one dictator for another, one more amenable to US deep state interests.

Anyone out there from Venezuela that can give us a take on the likelihood of true reform taking place in the country? Is that something the citizens want and will support? What needs to happen to make that successful?

John Poland's avatar

Your statement is pointless. State your preferred policy regarding Venezuela.

Do you mean that US influence can be nothing but negative?

Would you prefer that the CCP control Venezuela?

Do you mean that Venezuela was better off under Hugo Chávez?

Do you mean to say that Maduro is the poor innocent victim here, pure and clean as the driven snow, and only the evil USA stands in the way of a utopian paradise?

Say what you mean. Resorting to insults and nonsense suggests that you are either an unhappy leftist, a never-Trumper or an eternal pessimist. Not productive.

IronK's avatar

all dictatorships and struggles are a result of policies that the usa relentlessly carries out throughout the world.

The world would be without many dictatorships if it weren't for usa policies.

To think that the usa is doing something good considering its policies is extremely worrying and stupid to hear from you.

People who talk like that usually live under a rock.

John Poland's avatar

Wrong. You leave out the tremendously damaging tyrannies imposed by two other groups: communists and globalists. The Soviets ruined central and eastern Europe for 50 years with the dictatorships they imposed. The Chinese communists murdered 80 million of their own people while getting that dictatorship in place. Who props up North Korea? You certainly don't mean to suggest that the people of South Korea would be better off if the US had not intervened to stop the invasion by the communist north, supported by the Chinese, I hope.

Globalist influences, mainly through the UK, made a mess out of the middle east with their carving up of territory there early on. Globalists are running Europe into the ground, not the US. Germany, France, and Britain all had their turn with colonies in Africa. Are those nations better off today from all that? How can you forget so much history?

Don't assume that things are going to be the same with the US today. You need to understand that most of the country, both right and left, are very concerned about US involvement. I am also concerned. You made the leap of assumption that I am in favor of everything the US does. I am not.

My question all along has been the same: what do Venezuelans want? I think I know, but I want to hear from them. Since no one here seems to have anything but anti-US bias and guesses, there is no point in asking again.

IronK's avatar

Do you think Venezuelans will be able to choose for themselves what they want? Regardless of the right and left's concerns in the US.

I have absolutely no hatred towards ordinary Americans who are pawns in the game. Without its leadership. Who are they governed by and why.

Name a single country in the world that has a prosperous people and economy after the US has been there, name just one.

Now we are talking about the US, not about Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East or what the US has done throughout Central and South America before/after the Vietnam War.

So please do not conspire hatred against ordinary American people.

John Poland's avatar

This is the true point, and you are exactly right. Iraq and Afghanistan were absolutely unjustified wars that resulted in three things: destruction of otherwise stable countries, enormous debt burdens on American tax payers, and destruction of American civil liberties. All of this was terribly wrong. So no, I am in no way justifying all of our interference in other countries, including South America.

My point in mentioning the evils of other countries is to show that everyone has had their turn in contributing to this mess. Everyone is guilty. Note that the total deaths from other governments waging wars far outnumber those caused by the US.

Not that that makes it right, but put it in context.

We in the US voted for administrations that did the opposite of what they said they would and played us for fools. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, "Biden", even Trump have contributed to this.

What you see so far is the effect of Americans voting in globalist power players who got elected on lies and used the US to create a lot of destruction everywhere else. Americans are just now figuring this out, but there are still a lot of people that don't get it. That is why this period is so dangerously critical.

So yes, you are right to be critical and suspicious. So am I. I am cautiously optimistic because Trump is an outsider. Unfortunately he is still vulnerable to globalist influence and not immune to making the same mistakes as his predecessors. At least we have a chance to get it right this time.

Venezuela needs to have autonomy over their own country. Will the US help make that happen? Maybe? There are a lot of deeper causes and reasons why all of this came about with plenty of blame to go around the world. So, it is difficult to say at this point. I will give Trump a chance and see how it plays out before condemning him.

Deplorable Commissar's avatar

Please define reform ? Which country is a good example ?

John Poland's avatar

When I say “reform” I don't mean to suggest that everything will magically improve because the US is running the place now. There will always be foreign influence there because of the oil, and unfortunately that won't be all positive. That is a given. What I mean is the chance for Venezuelans to have the government they want, more or less. Since I don't live there I ask for their take on it. How would they define it?

It appears that Argentina is rapidly improving under Milei. I doubt that many Argentinians would prefer to go back to the Kirchner era but since I don't live there I would like to hear from people on the ground who do. Is that what Venezuelans want? Would they prefer to have a Hugo Chávez type leader again? It's an honest question. Since about a million Venezuelans came to the US in recent years, they must think the US is a good place at some level. They might think a US presence there would be a positive thing, at least temporarily. Can anyone add a first hand, on the ground opinion?

Motley Motson's avatar

Btw the governing party of Venezuelan is the United Socialist Party not the CCP , thats the Chinese.s ruling party sunshine

John Poland's avatar

Again, a pointless and immature statement. No one said the CCP ran the country. Are you so ignorant that you are unaware that China has poured nearly $100 billion into investments in Venezuela? Do you really think the Chinese don't expect anything back from that investments? Chinese money always comes with CCP strings attached.

Darras's avatar

Insults and arrogance don't make you more true.

Just rude.

John Poland's avatar

Pointing out the truth is rude? I responded to insult with insult, not the other way around. Argue your point, not the personality, and insults will be avoided.

Darras's avatar

No you're wrong, Motely didn't insult you. You did .

Apply to yourself your last sentence.

To be haughty don't make you more clever or relevant.

John Poland's avatar

Whoa back up there. Motely responded to my first statement with the disparaging "grow up". Next, making the false statement that I thought the CCP ran Venezuela, following again with the disparaging comment "sunshine". Leftists seem incapable of making a statement without misrepresentations and insults. You want to play that game we can but understand who started what, and yes, I would prefer to have a factual argument. How about going forward on that basis?

Motley Motson's avatar

For the working classes of Venezuela Chavez improved their life’s .Let’s see how the masses in that country now act .

Motley Motson's avatar

Name me one country which improved after a the USA has invaded?

Darras's avatar

Motley

It's not the good question.

The good one is: "tell me one country were the fate of a few folks turn much more better after an US invasion?"

And I can give you a huge list.

You know, when Romans conquered a land, they were smart. They enslaved 7/10 of the people, they let 2/10 free and wealthy and all the wealthiest and chiefs of those land became even Roman citizens. They absolutely don't gave a shit of there enslaved compatriots.

Europeans and Americans did the same in all their colonies.

After the WW2, they used compradores elites.

Poutine has been smarter than them. But you only have in the whole world one Poutine by century. And now, USA is frightened and mad for having not perfectly succeeded in crushing Russia with Elstine and his gang of SOB. They didn't see Poutine arriving and they didn't believed possible a rebirth of Russia.

John Poland's avatar

That was never the point of my statement. Am I trying to defend all US involvement in other countries over the last hundred years? No. We all know that has been mainly negative.

At the same time, are you trying to defend Chinese communist involvement? Promote Russian influence? Who do you wish to see control it? European globalists? Do you honestly believe that Latin American socialist dictators are beneficent rulers devoted to charity and wealth for all? Please.

You do understand that every area of the world will be fought over and every form of influence used to undermine decent governments. Politics is always dirty. We know that. Do I need to restate the obvious?

Someone will partner with Venezuela. It is a question of who, and what is the best that can be made from it. I want to hear from Venezuelans and know what they think. At this point I am not defending anything. I simply want to know what Venezuelans think about it, especially since a million of them came here in the last few years. Maybe they would prefer US involvement over their former situation, at least temporarily. Chaos brings opportunities for change, both good and bad. That is why I ask. I think there is a real chance to improve things there. I am not ready to write off all hope for positive change and I hope you are not, either.

Are you from Venezuela? If not, your comments are pointless. Your speculations are not worth anything more than mine.
