Go Houthi’s: F Israel

Pramod's avatar

As of now, the Houthis seem poised for strategic defeat, the way Hezbollah was neutralised in Syria and Lebanon by the IDF. The odds are heavily against the Houthies, because Israel can and most likely will destroy the storehouses of the formers' arsenal before they could possibly avail opportunity to use those missiles ! For all of their tall bragging, the Houthies do not seem capable of mustering any courage to actually fire their best missiles on Israel apart from a few anecdotal and symbolic attempts.

Israeli "intel" comes from USA satellites and the rapidly deflating Reaper drone fleet, as neither has any HUMINT assets so they don't know any more than USA does, and therefore have no knowledge of Ansarallah stores or locations. USA/UAE/Saudi were unable to pacify Yemen in over 10 years of trying, dont expect it to work now.

@Steve, I have never claimed that 'Israel destroyed Iranian AD system in November' as you seem to be pointing out. Possibly you have confused my comment with that of someone else. Even the USA has not made any such claims, and Israel too has not pretended that it can destroy Iranian AD systems.

As for the question of "unshakeable faith in the Israeli airforce", such has never been my stance. But Israel arguably has the most modern and extensive airforce in the region, whose capabilities remain superior to, let alone unsurpassed, by the combined might of militaries of all Arab countries.

Intelligence reports suggest that the Houthis are going to lose bigtime. Real big punishment to them from their adversaries is in the offing. Houthies are basically counting their days, because their time is about to be up.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE are aware of this reality, which ironically has goaded them into complacency. They do not want to take initiative in overt hostities against the houthies (or at least want to create an illusion of not intending to do so) because they believe that Israel and the USA will finish the job of crushing the Houthies anyways. Eventhough a bigger coalition of the willing ganging up against the Houthies will mean wider dispersal or dissipation of retaliatory strikes that Houthis might undertake, thus mitigating their efficacy, yet Saudia and the UAE do not seem to want sharing the brunt at all. From the Israeli standpoint, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are shirking their responsibilities, in the same way the EU wants America to have the former's back against Russia without having to foot an equitable share of the bill. Tails you lose, heads I win!  Alternatively, the other extreme possibility could be that Saudi Arabia is covertly co-operating with Israel in missile-interception and all, but simply does not want to admit it for fear of provoking backlash from restive sections of its own populace who profess broad ideological alignment in some measure or the other with Hamas of Gaza.

Critics of Saudi policy among the sympathisers with the Axis of Resistance go so far as to allege that on the flip side, Saudi Arabia has in principle reconciled itself to the spectre of a peaceful geographical expansion of Israel into Northern and Central Hijaz, something which partakes of certain  "Greater Israel" features. The events of October 7 and the gangup of Al Ansar in solidarity with Hamas subsequently, combined with unreliable or lackadisical co-operation with Israel from important neighbours like Saudi Arabia, have convinced many even among the sceptics in Israel of the perceived need for Israel to increase its strategic depth for safeguarding its security, maybe say in form of a larger strategic  footprint on the Red Sea littoral. There are indications that Saudi Arabia will not be entirely averse to the prospect of ceding some

territorial concessions to Israel in the larger interest of normalisation and lasting peace not only with Israel but also one guaranteed by an Israeli nuclear umbrella against Iran. The Saudi and UAE dynasties have been shown to prioritise stability within their kingdoms over fanciful but unrealistic ambitions of exports of ideology and

influence. Talks between the UAE and Israel for an Israeli missile base in UAE for protection against Iran have been the subject of much interest and speculation in both mainstream and alternative media.

Velociraver's avatar

Newsflash, there's no defence against Iranian hypersonics, as was already demonstrated in the attack on Nevatim. Iran could wipe Dimona off the map any day of the week with impunity, irradiating swathes of Israel for centuries.

Pxx's avatar

They've done some thing rather more significant than taking potshots at Israel. Look at any livemap of international shipping - The Suez Canal is for practical purposes closed.

Last time this happened it marked the end of the French and British status as first-rank powers. The actual end was earlier of course, as a result of WWII, but the Suez episode served as the timestamp after which the diminished status couldn't be denied.

Pramod's avatar

Houthis have had limited success against naval targets in the Red Sea, but they have failed miserably against Saudi Arabia and the UAE whereas Saudis have had a free run bombing North Yemen for many years. Houthi missile capabilities appear to be limited and out of sync with the grandiose picture painted by ALT Media.

Jim Fiala's avatar

The Saudis were confident 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 would defeat Ansar Allah, as, no doubt. the U.S. was as well. The Saudis oil producing and shipping assets are extremely vulnerable to attack. If those assets go, the Saudi family dictatorship goes as well.

Pramod's avatar

Houthis have fared miserably in attacks against Saudi Arabia, and have had zero success against UAE. It is now being felt that the ALT Media had grossly hyped up the offensive capabilities of the Houthis, because those descriptions do not tally with the situation on the ground. On the other hand, for many years Saudi Arabia, aided and abetted by the UAE, has had a free run bombing North Yemen without opposition.

Nakayama's avatar

For a population not afraid to die, bombing is not effective. To effectively suppress the Houthis, ground combat is necessary. The alternative is that Israel throws a couple of atomic bombs at the Houthis' territories. There is a big bunch of Jews in Israel who are not afraid to die, either, albeit for different reasons. Suppose my bad prediction indeed happened, then what would happen in the Middle East?

James Schwartz's avatar

The NY Post this morning has written the Houtis have waved the white flag and won’t attack US naval ships anymore. They said this does not include Israel and they will continue their military assault against them I assume infinitely. This agreement puts Iran now square in the US’s crosshairs as they look to reach a nuclear deal with them. The hard line is Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and so far have had 3 unfruitful meetings with Steve Witkoff with the fourth being cancelled. What I see here is Iran stalling with these negotiations. The hope here would be to drag it out long enough until there is regime change in the US. I’m not sure Trump gives them that much time and Israel surely won’t. Iran has no air defenses from an earlier Israeli attack and are dealing with water shortages and power loss. The currency was in free fall until these meetings started and unless an agreement is reached will continue to lag severely near financial collapse. Iran’s ayatollahs face civil unrest here which could lead to regime change that could free the populous from a half a century of extreme Islamist rule. Recall Iran was a US ally before the shah was replaced in 1979. The Houtis depend on the ayatollahs monetary support and direction. What they become after their collapse isn’t known. They surely would be very weak without them and the Yemeni people may rise and finish them off.

BJ's avatar

You've not yet figured out the NYP is an Israel mouthpiece? Right after 10/07 the stories they began spewing were even more outlandish than Trumps hair. Israel has invested one billion dollars in the propaganda campaign of which I can assure you, the NYP received millions, merely judging by the egregious lies they were spewing on behalf of Israel.

Keep in mind the newspaper industry has been laying off thousands for the past few years and will now do and say anything to remain afloat. The irony being, the NYP had actually dug itself out of being a rag and has since reverted back to it former self. This happened immediately after Trump allowed them onto his plane during the campaign.

I will however give credit where credit is do. They break major stories before anyone else including the Jew York Times. Another Israel mouthpiece,

James Schwartz's avatar

I’m aware of their Jewish slant. They are owned by Rupert Murdoch of course. He happens to be Jewish. I don’t get sucked into much of it. I read several publications and sources daily and just because I referenced a news source doesn’t mean I find it accurate or that is my view. It was the news of the day in that publication. The paper does have less constraints on it and isn’t some left wing propaganda outfit. They have good journalists there who would have Pulitzers if the media wasn’t just a leftist mouthpiece.

Velociraver's avatar

It’s all over Iranian media. CENTCOM totally humiliated..USA cut a meaningless deal behind Israel's back. "Yemen will not attack US ships" because US ships are being withdrawn from the Red Sea in disgarace after utterly failing to protect Israel.

James Schwartz's avatar

The US has zero reason to protect ships in the region. Most commerce flowing through there is headed to Europe. Why should the US incur the cost of helping them survive? Let the EU deal with it. Israel has the rest under control.

Velociraver's avatar

I see you're a fan of JD's chat log. Actually, USA has built a reputation of being the world's guardian of capitalist trade on the seas, it's literally why the US has a blue-water navy in the first place. So, firstly, the damage to that reputation and the signal that it sends is immense. The signal, of course, is that the US is utterly impotent to stop AnsarAllah and it's become too costly and embarrassing to maintain the charade any longer. Perhaps you forget that USA/KSA/UAE waged war against Yemen for 10 years and accomplished nothing but to make them stronger. Nobody has the guts or the willpower to put boots on the ground in Yemen, and so it's a lost cause. Yemen will continue to strike Israel with impunity for as long as the genocide continues.

Velociraver's avatar

Israel has nothing under control, the economy is in shambles, shipping has stopped, major airlines now boycott Israeli airspace, millions of Isrselis are driven into shelters daily by missile alerts, intelligentsia are leaving the country in droves, and it's a pariah state, hated by the whole world for committing genocide in the eyes of the law. Not to mention that Iran demonstrated that it can overcome Iron Dome, Patriot Pac3, Arrow, SM3 and DAVID'S Sling all at once to strike Nevatim with hypersonics..which means that if provoked it could wipe Dimona off the map and irradiate Israel for centuries with the fallout. Iran is a vast, mountainous country with many times Israel's population, and can easily withstand multiple nuclear strikes, whereas tiny Israel can be snuffed out with little more than a dirty bomb and a stiff wind, as recent wildfires have demonstrated.

Not sure any Americans have died fighting the Houtis. It’s been all air assaults.

BJ's avatar

Not true, there was an article recently published saying the US has covered up the number of casualties. Another reason why they waved the white flag and not the Houthis.

Trump is all about Trump and his massive ego. He can no longer boast about never starting wars. He's seeing his polls numbers drops and all the signs that read: ARE WE GREAT YET?

James Schwartz's avatar

It’s not going to be an overnight fix. There are many issues that have to be corrected but we would’ve been finished had Kamala won and being knowledgeable in the financial world I know what he’s doing and short term pain is something I’m willing to deal with. Shit needed to change here or the US was done

BJ's avatar

Here's just one of the numerable articles regarding the casualties and costs of this unprovoked war on Yemen.

I think your math might be off. The dept. of defense budget this year will hit 1.3 trillion. The army isn’t involved in this as the planes are navy flying from aircraft carriers in the Red Sea. Those Reaper drones would have almost zero chance of hitting any ship in the US fleet there. The US has dropped bombs on many Houti targets possibly destroying some of them as they sat on the ground. Really no way to verify. The Houtis have other issues aside from the US as the citizens could rise up and take them out too. With this agreement the US will now focus on a deal with Iran. The Houtis funding has dried up in a major way with irans currency in the shitter

Pramod's avatar

Israel is the defacto superpower in the middle east which remains unchallenged from all Arab states. In the coming days, there are indications that Israel and/or the USA will crush the power of Houthies on priority.

Velociraver's avatar

It’s all over Iranian media. CENTCOM totally humiliated. USA forced to strike a deal with Anarallah behind Israel's back after wasting 3 Billion dollars and failing to end the resistance.

Pramod's avatar

I appreciate your valuable time taken to inform me. I personally have no stakes in the Ansarallah-USA standoff. I neither rejoice in nor mourn the prospects of a Houthi defeat which seems imminent from a perusal of probabilities as they exist at the moment. Being able to surmise a future course of events with any degree of certainty requires a dispassionate analysis. It appears to me that Ansarallah is doomed to go the Hezbollah way, but that prediction is not final, because only the Creator has certain kbowledge of the future. And probabilities can change with time, sometimes dramatically so.

BJ's avatar

More misinformation. There was an article recently published stating 500 million Arabs are seething, which is who the Houthis are playing to.

Iran's stature as a technological giant in the niche areas of missile and such where it has carved a special place for itself, goes without saying.

However, the hypersonic missiles possessed by Ansrallah in Yemen have not been supplied by Iran, contrary to popular perception. Iran offers diplomatic and moral support to the Houthies in matters of faith and politics, and has delivered consignments of small range ballistic rockets in the past, but the co-operation ends at that. As for hypersonic missiles, they are manufactured in North Yemen by Houthies on their own, and Houthies possess blueprints for hypersonic missile tech independently of their alleged liason with Iran. A joke doing the rounds in South Arabia says that 2 Iranian techies, allegedly abducted by Sunni Arab operatives of the Mossad had landed up in Arabia enroute to their final destination, whence they somehow got lost and ended up in Houthi hands. Whatever may be the reason, but as of today, Houthies have hypersonic manufacturing capabilities of their own. This is why one of the priorities of a decisive "Shock and Awe" American military operation against North Yemen will be focused on targetted elimination of human assetts (techies and engineers) that are of crucial importance to the Houthi missile tech prowess

Mr Benjamin Netanyahu has been a career diplomat for much of his career. When a person has invested so much time and effort in building a career, he tends to develop a vested interest in the perpetuation of myths and fallacies embodied by the cultures he might have spent a lifetime in studying closely. Many a brilliant folks in America and Europe unconsciously became staunch Islamophiles after having spent years mastering the Arabic language and delving deep into Arab-Islamic and Turkish-Islamic history, science and culture.

However, it goes to the credit of Mr Benjamin Neranyahu that after assuming the office of Prime Minister of Israel, he has never allowed his political decisions to be adversely influenced by any unconscious bias in favour of political correctness of the liberal-globalist type which one would expect to have crept in his psyche from decades of close liason with the liberal-globalist milieu in course of his long diplomatic career. Such bias has never gotten the better of him in decisions made by him while holding the office of the Prime Minister. He has stood his ground firm in tough policy decisions, such as his undaunting stance against the Hamas and his refusal to knowtoy before the ICC and the latter's international patrons including those in the EU. Accordingly, Israel stands a sure-shot chance of success in effectively eliminating military threats emanating from anywhere in the Arab world, because of Netanyahu's unwavering commitment to the Zionist cause which is not amenable to manipulation by external powers. Whereas the adversaries of Israel in the Arab world have largely shown themselves to be more steam than substance !

Israeli retaliation against North Yemen is underway and 7 airplanes parked on the tarmac have been destroyed in missile attacks on Sanaa airport which remained unintercepted by Yemeni defence, causing $ 500 million in damages at the airport alone according to Yemeni sources.

As for Saudi Arabia and the UAE, they are likely co-operating with Israel vide an unannounced liason aka Jordan, and unlike Jordan these two countries have nothing to fear on accounts of any potential appeal exerted by the Houthis or Hamas on their subject populace. This is because these countries are very sparsely populated, and in the UAE it is expats who greatly outnumber native citizens, and all those living in the major urban population centres are already subject to quantification and profiling in an extensive computerised forensic database which includes fingerprints and biometrics. Saudi and UAE regimes do not care about adverse opinions held by their respective subjects, because natives are incapable of sustaining an uprising in the same way in which expats who form the bulk of inhabitants are. If things still come to an untoward pass, then these Sheikhdoms always have the Bahrain option for paradigm.

Pramod's avatar

In a reversal of roles, the Ansar Allah faction of North Yemen polity has literally imposed a similar kind of air-sea blockade on Israel as that imposed on Iraq by the USA and its EU allies in theb1990's. Removing this blockade by vanquishing the Houthis has become a prestige issue for the US and Israel.

Hezbollah was also a regional power before it wasn't anymore. Barbary coast antics.

Velociraver's avatar

Hezbollah's hundreds of thousands of rockets haven't left the chat, yet...

barnabus's avatar

Yawn. We've seen Hezbollah's performance in Syria at the end of 2024. Which was an absolutely crucial hinterland for Hezbollah. Losing Syria was a much bigger disaster for them than being moved out South of Litani river.

Velociraver's avatar

Also, Hezbollah's performance in Syria was instrumental in that they provided crucial support to pro-regime forces, helping to regain control of rebel-held areas and improve the effectiveness of the Syrian army and loyalist militias...could they ultimately prevail against the combined forces of USA/Israel/Turkey of course not.

Velociraver's avatar

Syria was a supply line, yes, and Hezbollah has had it's leadership badly mauled, for sure. That, AND being sold out by the Quisling Lebanese ggovernment.Dark days, for sure..but what has NOT changed is tens of thousands of very dedicated fighters and hundreds of thousands of rockets. Watch and wait, I say...there may come a day when Hezbollah takes part in a coordinated strike to decapitate Israel, or even flatten Dimona to irradiate great swathes of Israel for centuries while thousands of fighters pour across the border. Stranger things have happened in Gaza 🤷‍♂️ It's already been demonstrated that Iron Dome, David's Sling, Arrow, Patriot P3, and the USN can be bypassed to strike Israel.with impunity when provoked.
