One minor note: Indonesians have a history of hostility toward Chinese due to Chinese dominance in local trades and wealth (and Chinese bosses not treating the native employees well), and hostility toward the West due to the colonial period. Personally, I have no idea what the Dutch did in Indonesia. The Dutch occupied southern Taiwan for a few decades, but left few traces.

Personally, I do know two Indonesian migrant workers, both honest and hard-working. Given Indonesia's unique geography and very spread-out territory (and potentially in ethnicity as well), it is a great challenge to manage this country, and there are consequences far beyond its borders if Indonesia is not well managed.

The US is like a boa constrictor, slowly tightening the grip, slowly infiltrating, slowly corrupting, slowly weakening. Ret. Col. Larry Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff to the late Secretary of State Colin Powell has repeatedly confirmed on various interviews that after the spectacular diplomatic fail of being rebuffed with regards to the Iraqi invasion of 2003 by many of its allies, has poured untold billions into spying on, grooming, blackmailing, bribing, and all the dark paraphernalia in order to produce the current crop of European and aligned leadership. Very succesfull indeed. Names like Annalena Baerbock shine like supernovas on the night sky, testimony of the US generational effort. And in Indonesia, the US laready showed that it can get what it wanted.Anyone remembers the Jakarta Method that purged Indonesia of communists?
