"None of this should be relevant to BRICS since it’s always been a voluntary network of countries whose members coordinate their policies for accelerating financial multipolarity processes with a view towards reforming the global order so that the World Majority finally obtains equitable influence therein."

BRICS is nothing more than a glorified dorm room bull session.

I'll admit that I initially thought that BRICS was some kind of mashup of the EU and NATO (which now obviously does not make any sense).

The key difference being that BRICS has some heavyweights like RIC, but no hegemon aspirants like Germany/France (EU) and the actual hegemon US in NATO.

Frankly at this point I'm confused on BRICS role: is it an alternative to the UN? Is it representative of the "global south" - seems to be ineffectual in public, who knows what they're doing in the background?
