This is heartbreaking.

On every subject, day after day, watching Russia debase itself a little more, and with everyone—including Western European degenerates, Baltic dwarfs, Scandinavian clowns, Turkish or Pakistani earthworms, Syrian or Afghan Islamist throat-cutters, Israeli genocidaires, and Japanese end-of-liners.

It is now clear: Russia has lost this war. Whatever happens to Ukraine (already settled more than four years ago), Russia has lost this war against NATO.

Lavrov's last interview, which Johnson grotesquely tries to spin positively, is a catastrophe that can be summed up as: "We don't even care about those who insult us, slap us, and spit on us every day. We see only the USA. And the USA are naughty brats. And no, we will not give them an ultimatum; we hope they will become good boys, but no, we will not even threaten them."

Appalling.

It is clear: the Russian leadership knows it has lost and is trying to arrange a pitiful exit for its own public opinion.

Does it "hope" (hope... what a disgrace) that the West will let it negotiate its withdrawal quietly? It is dreaming. The West will finish off the beast. And with maximum pain. Putin has had the same hesitations as Spartacus, Wat Tyler, William Wallace, Artevelde, Étienne Marcel. He will end like them.

Bolton and the neocons were right: Putin is a fake tough guy. Western leaders are realizing this late, and they will make Russia pay dearly for their shame at having been so timid before.

This is a pretty absurd comment. Russia is now more powerful military, economically and more cohesive from a society point of view that before the war.

Also control more territories that are strategical and it is winning the war in Ukraine.

Their policy with the U.S. is adequate in my opinion. Crumbling or not US is a military power and the options of Russia to retaliate against the U.S. all involve a nuclear war destroying planet, something no sane person wants to do.

Showing restraint and friendship instead of provoking the U.S. likely create some level of division in the U.S. about if Russia is really the enemy or not and this helps Russia to perform their tasks better.

It is not different of the policies that Bismarck were doing with Prussia and Germany that were criticised for being weak but that being enormous success to such country until a stupid kaiser reverted them.

Turkey may have a lot of ambitions in Central Asia but are basically based on thin air. If at some point Russia needs it can take Azerbaijan easily, after Ukraine it would be a picnic in the country side. Specially if Iran joins them.

Also they can blockade the Caspian Sea if they would like since their firepower there is superior to all the rest of litoral states together and Iran anyway would be either neutral or in Russian side.

Turkey can make pressure in Siria and Serbia but those are not core interest of Russia.

Whenever Russia decide is the moment, probably when they have finished the Ukrainian war in 3/4/8 years they can take care of Azerbaijan and Aliyev with no problem.

And then all investment of Turkey, open society the EU in those transport corridors, those NGO and those energy will be lost in a month

Ask yourself first if it's not your vision which is absurd.

I will not presume that your vision is absurd but what I can assert is that this dreamy vision is full of wind and wishfull thinking.

Bismarck? He crushed Bavaria, he crushed every German state in his prussian empire, he crushed military Austrian empire, he crushed military France in 1870, he crushed military Denmark. What is your comparison with the behaviour of Russia?

You say that Russia will easily crush Azerbaijan? Dreamers like you, four years ago, already said in laughing that Russia will crush Ukraine in less of two weeks.

You don't remember?

Are you a red fish?

And what allows you to say that Russia is stronger today? It has lost hundreds of thousands of its elite citizens in combat, it has seen hundreds of thousands of men of fighting age flee, it has lost Syria, Venezuela, Armenia, Azerbaijan, it is losing Kazakhstan, it has demonstrated that the BRICS were just hot air, just like its supposed alliance with China, India, or Iran. It has doused a huge part of its international sympathizers with its sudden "pragmatism," far removed from its moralizing bravado of yesterday. It was humiliated in Kazan by the collapse of its dream of a collective attack on the dollar. Its fleet is cowering at the bottom of the Black Sea, its aircraft do not even approach the line of contact, its refineries and territory are bombed with impunity, its citizens wounded and killed, its tankers and cargo ships seized and their cargo stolen, its 300 billion in assets stolen as well—and you tell me it is stronger than four years ago? On what basis do you utter such nonsense?

You say it is more united? What allows you to say that? And united for what?

What a magnificent example of this Potemkinism that is killing Russia. If it has not already killed it.

Bismarck crushed small German kingdoms while balancing diplomatically and seeking good relations with England and Russia that were 2 of the superpowers of the time.

If it does not ring to you what can I say. Putin crushed Georgia, crushed internal issues in Chechenia and is crushing Ukraine while trying to keep good relations with the U.S.

Anyway the fact that you are comparing what would be an Azerbaijan conflict with the Ukrainian one tell me you are not serious. Population, industry, geography is vastly different

Ok Sir, keep on dreaming. But the waking up will be hard.

Russia could easily cut Turkey off frlm energy supplies. This, however, would require a decisiveness and willingness to accept short term pain for long term gain that the Russian leadership entirely lacks.

Erdogan’s trust in the West and America more specifically was fundamentally destroyed with the failed military coup attempt against him on July 15, 2016. This was a core experience that shaped his policies in the last decade. Turkey was also denied EU membership for two decades, just another reason to seek an independent foreign policy for Erdogan.
