I believe Russia and China are both deeply concerned with the possibility of an extended war against Iran and all the related consequences. Iran loosing full independence and becoming an American vassal state would be a major strategic loss for China and Russia, both. I am expecting at least China to offer substantial quantities of military hardware as Chinese industrial capacity, export to the Far East and energy security will all suffer from this war.

All the major consequences of this conflict were easy to anticipate. There is actually a serious possibility that the main goals were to undermine food and energy stability on a planetary scale and collapse political stability in the area to open a window for Israeli expansion long sought after.

So far China's responses have been surprisingly weak. Think of Venezuela. Beyond trade (and some satellite information sharing?) I don't expect much from China under Xi Jinping. A strategic blunder if you ask me.

China can organize overland transfers through Afghanistan in covert operations. As we know from the Soviet and American experiences in Afghanistan ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING can be achieved there for cash and weapon donations and China has the resources.

China? Providing openly diplomatic backing and military material to Iran? It's a joke?

China is a trader, not a warrior.

Russia is not military allied with Iran. Ok. But if Iran fall or swing, Russia is over, kaput.

So, a so weak backing is astonishing.

No because of ally's obligations or not but just by strategic interest.

A country unable to protect his friends( ally or not), punish the traitors and deter its ennemies can't pretend to superpower status.

We still are in unipolar world and USA is still the only superpower for now.

And seeing the irresolution of Russia and more over that of China, forget the liquefied of Brazil and India, it will seemingly last for a while

Trying to have it both ways means you get neither.

Russia is indeed not allied with Iran against the Gulf Kingdoms and Israel. It has a highly complex relationship with Israel and has several partnerships with most of the Gulf monarchies. My take is that it will mediate in preventing a war between Iran and its neighboring muslim countries. Something Israel has been desperately inciting for some time. But at the same it won't let this major opportunity slip. An opportunity to get back at the US empire which has been orchestrating the war in Ukraine from the start, to have the US empire divert as much resources a possible to the Iran front, drain it of as much funds as possible as wars, especially far away ones, are very costly, Russia simultaneously reaping in major profits as a result of decreased hydrocarbon supply, etc. The way it looks, NATO countries (already fully committed in fighting Russia) will also be sucked into this war and Iranian society not buckling which would be a repetition on a bigger scale of Yemen being invaded by KSA and holding ground with a Vietnam/Afghanistan outcome.

Putin, of all fucking people, should know that the US and Israel are agreement incapable.

The anti-Russianism in the USA is a sickness. Blame Russia for everything that is going wrong in the world. If Russia found a cure for cancer they would be blamed for not finding it soon enough. The pro -Russian should take into account the following. USA has been at war with 10 countries, NEVER with Russia. Russia sold Alaska to the USA for 2 cents per acre. In WWII the Russians killed 95% of the German/Axis troops that got killed. USA took the OTHER 5%. America STOP being sick about Russia.

Uh, the West bent over backwards for Russia sending them billions for their natural gas and gifting them the World Cup and Winter Olympics…all the while Putin was engaged in military operations beyond his borders. Biden even gave Putin an out with his “incursion” comment.
