Inspired and timely Wisdom...it needs to move forward to ALL Peoples.

Hilarious. Probably read better before the awkward translation.

I'm confident that the "De-Nszification" means the entirety of geographic Ukraine. So this war isn't over by a long shot, Russia will not accept anything less - so we're looking at least another 12 to 18 months of fighting.

That is certainly the message that I take from Lavrov's statements. He is taking the high road by keeping the focus on the rights of Russian-speakers throughout Ukraine, as opposed to being limited to the territories under Russian control. I find much to admire in Lavrov; as a statesman he is head, shoulders, and torso above his counterparts in the EU and USA.

Alfalfa's avatar

For sure. Road - so high.

How many of these do you have to bang out per hour?

It takes Donald more than 90 days to realize that Ukraine "is not his war". Of course, he had exaggerated a little bit just like almost everything else he says. However, I don't think Trump can offer any effective help to Russia in Ukraine. The best he can do is to walk away, and he may not be able to achieve that even if he wants to. For the sake of Russian-speaking people, I think the Russian Army should finish the job. Russia did not commit its forces until it had to, and it should not stop the work until it had to. In the process, more civilian casualties will happen, but the nature of this war is a civil war to begin with.

The way Mr. Lavrov talked makes me speculate that Russian leaders have abandoned the liberation of other Russian-speaking people in the eastern and central parts of Ukraine. Russia can do little to help Russian-speaking people in the Baltic nations besides helping them to relocate to Russia. However, in the context of the Ukraine War, the Russian military and government can do far more. And few of the remaining work can be completed diplomatically.

vanyam's avatar

No, this not a civil war by any stretch of the imagination. Ukraine is my second home. There was no conflict between Russian and Ukrainian speakers, no more than in any other former Soviet slave state.

This is about Putin trying to steal what he cannot buy or influence jn order to enrich himself further. It's about reconstituting the USSR he misses so much. It's about stealing the food resources he's not so good at growing. It's about stealing the resources to enhance his military manufacturing base includjng shipyards. It's about taking over the Black Sea. It's about erasing the Ukrainian culture just like Stalin tried to do.

Language has nothing to do with this Holodomor 2.0.

Trump understands this. He’s done in Ukraine and any idea Zelensky gets his land back is just a pipe dream. His 60 minutes interview was CBS doing its best pandering to the globalists who wish to keep this loser of a war going. With Trump or without him this war ends and it can be with Ukraine still being a country or it becoming part of Russia again at that point Zelensky will be killed and the fighting stops. Zelensky is the one who stopped elections. He’s now a dictator who says he wants peace but on his terms which Trump pointed out he holds no cards on the terms here. Europe and its war mongering concern that Russia won’t stop at Ukraine’s border should then get themselves ready in case that happens (it won’t) but it’s high time Europe defends itself and Zelensky to quit being a moron. To the victor go the spoils.

vanyam's avatar

James, when the US goes in and manipulates any countey into disarming itself to please Washington and/or Wall St, IN TRADE for a sovereignty security guarantee, then it's our responsibility as a "respectable" law abiding nation to make good on our deals.

Doesn't matter which Prez made the deal od who was in office when this jnvasion started, we are the guarantor, along with the UK.

Do you whelch on your deals? We are either a respectable country, or we're not. Make America Great Again?

Russia knows that if any remnant of this Nazi ideology is allowed to remain, it will undoubtedly face another war at some point down the road. I think it misleading that Russia is only concerned about the denazification of the four territories. Militarily, Russia can clean out the regime at all levels, reshape the constitution and ensure a neutral and friendly nation, BUT, to completely de-nazify the ideology that has been imposed on Ukraine for over 80 years will take decades of re-education. Russia should not be alone in once and for all eliminating this ideology in Ukraine, but wherever else it exists, including European nations and Brussels.

vanyam's avatar

So, brainiac, tell us...how long will it take to decommunize the Russkiy Mir?

vanyam's avatar

You talk just like Stalin, dude.

Really interesting article. Thank you!

Right now Trump has to deal with the CIA and deep state neocons, NATO neocons, UK neocons, EU intel neocons all of whom do not want to give up on their grandiose delusions of defeating Russia or failing that, perpetual war in which only they will benefit at the expense of a large swath of humanity. I don't know who will end up winning. I would not bet against Trump, but these are powerful forces. As Sundance points out, it appears Putin understands this, as his failure to respond to ongoing CIA provocations may indicate.

I am hopeful of peace between the US and Russia. It sure beats war any day.

When I think about how many times Putin reached out to the West only to be slapped back by US neocons I feel angry that these vultures did so using our name, the United States.

“Denazification” is a tricky business. At the time when the German armies arrived in Soviet territories the Ukraine/Germanic alliance was a logical conclusion for Ukrainians after decades of existential struggles against communism and the Red Army. If Ukrainians can be deprived of their historical ideological associations the same might be demanded from the Russian population there for their communist alliances. Maybe the best approach is not to overplay a close to century old ideological confrontation and focus on separating the two ethnic groups to secure peace there.

vanyam's avatar

What Americans do not realize is that Ukrainian culture is almost a carbon copy of post-WW2 American culture. I'm a baby boomer, and when I arrived in Ukraine in 2008, I thought I had been transported back to my childhood in the USA.

Of course, there were Nazis everywhere, but they pretty much left me alone!!😀😀

Kennewick Man's avatar

As a second observation for “Denazification”: Suddenly the two superpowers of the Western World, the Russian Federation and America have leaders who are running around searching for “Nazis” like madman. One is doing it in Ukraine, the other one is kicking up the dust at American universities deporting the victims of the latest genocide of Israel. Eighty years after WWII something is eating up the souls of these beloved leaders. While they are doing this with one hand, they carry thousands of nuclear weapons over our heads with the other. It all starts adding up.

vanyam's avatar

You know what's really sick? There is hot and cold running Communism throughout the US culture, but the Nazi hunters are one-trick ponies. Like Marjorie Taylor Greene. Putler got in her head with his denazification bullshit and she's actually using federal dollars to RESEARCH the Nazis in Ukraine.

YET, she looks Communists in the eye every single day she goes to work. There is an umbilical cord between her evangelism, the Nazis, the Jews, Israel and her own religious belief that she will be saved by being a religious quarterback for Israel. She does't care about Communists, Putler's genocidal landgrab, the Holodomor, nothing but her own "salvation" prescribed to her by her Schofield Bible.

For Commies in America, check out Trevor Loudon.

Kennewick Man's avatar

On commies in America I could teach graduate classes but Harvard refuses to hire me. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn already clarified this issue when he stated: "There are more communists at any American university than in a medium sized city in Russia."

AAA21's avatar

It’s hilarious to see the biggest Nazi in Europe (Putin) asking for “denazification”. 😂😂😂

vanyam's avatar

I've seen photos of German troops sharing their food with local Ukrainians back in thd day. All the decades of blah blah blah about the Nazis as the definition of evil itself has circumvented the reality that Communism in China, the USSR , etc, makes the Nazis look like rank amateurs in terms of the destruction and horrors laid on humanity.

Putin is more than happy to have useful western idiots carry water for his bloody, invasive, genocidal culture by obsessing over Nazis while willfully ignorant to Communiat crimes.

vanyam's avatar

Professor Regis, when does the De-communization of the Russian Federation begin?

vanyam's avatar

American christian conservatives especially, have been a target for Putler in his Ukrainian landgrab. 99% of Americans are completely ignorant to any reality in Ukraine or any other former Soviet slave state. They cannot SPELL Holodomor, just Holocaust. They know ZIP about Ukraine, just what they've been fed by RT, Tucker Carlson, Scott Ritter, Colonel McGregor and a whole slew of mercenery media sources who SELL their "news" by subscriprion knly, just like substack.

One out of 30 of these Ukrainian "experts" has ever visited or knows anything fidsthand, but they will certainly SELL YOU the "truth about Putler and Ukraine.

vanyam's avatar

Putler uses the word "denazification" as a dog whistle for American Christians specifically, in order to get their support for his land grab. Just as Putler has tried to expunge from the global records any mention of his Uncle Joe Stalin's Holodomor genocide in Ukraine, this Minnie Me demon in the Kremlin is trying to appeal to US religious conservatives...especially to Evangelicals, These dudes are like hunting dogs.. they hunt ONE thing. Birds, racoons, bear. The word NAZI is like a 3-alarm fire to Evangelicals. Putler is very clever in the way he deflects from Russia's many crimes against humanity. In ordet to keep Russia and the USSR off the Wanted List of genocidal cultures, he uses his fake orthodox church and Patriarch Kirill to get cozy with US christians through American podcasters, fake news on RT geared at ignorant Americans, US churches, etc. Real Christian brotherhood! 😀

Denazification is a Pavlovian trigger word for people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who probably has more Trump-voting nazis and skinheads than half of Europe. But it worked in getting gullible fools like Greene to suspect Ukraine rather than the actual criminal state...Russia and Putler. Greene is STI)L researching nazis in Ukraine. Buffoon. Putin likes American buffoons.

I have two short essays on my paul530.substack.com site that you might find interesting in this context and I cannot possibly summarize for a comment here.

In brief, this one: https://paul530.substack.com/p/peeling-the-onion-of-progressive delusion describes the ultimate basis for Ukrainian national socialism on which Lavrov is, of course, correct.

In response, this one https://paul530.substack.com/p/abhorrent-solutions-ii sets out a dead simple peace deal in which everybody wins.

Please have a look.

The best thing Trump can do is let them fight it out. Zelensky pulling out of the any territory voluntarily is a death sentence for him.
