It is sacrificing its economic and social model on the altar of Western solidarity, in order to keep its place in the shield wall.

It does so because it knows that if it broke ranks by looking only at its immediate self-interest, it would shatter a system of global domination from which it benefits.
By behaving like this, India retains its serf mentality.

Andrew - great points in your article today - As noted in one of the comments - Venzuelan oil has to be mixed to be useful, and I only see demand for Russian oil increasing - it will be interesting to see the stall on the Sibiria 2 pipeline and why Xi did not sign the project in the last meeting - I am willing to bet that in the future you may see the Japan section connected as it is only a 40 mile connection or so needed - the world is changing and new trading blocs will be forming.
With between 15-25% of the world’s supply disappearing, nobody should blame India for trying to get oil wherever they can.
Their alliance with Russia isn’t a suicide pact.

No, it's because the oligarchs who rule those european leaders, make more money with USA than Europe. It's the only reason.
