During the 1848 Hungarian struggle against Austria Poland sent General Józef Zachariasz Bem to help the Hungarians. The General fought to the last days of the conflict.
In the more recent history, Hungary helped Poland during Polish-Soviet war of 1920, refused Wehrmacht to pass to attack Poland in 1939 and helped the refugees after Poland collapsed.
There was no independent Poland in 1848 that could support the then Hungarian uprising. Poland was under Russian control, and Russia then cooperated with Austria in putting down that Hungarian rebellion.
Bem lived in France since 1832 , after the crush of polish revolt against Russia. In France he did a lot a great things. He was a very great scientist and is one of the numerous brillant and brave Poles( like Chopin) that France is very happy and proud to have welcomed.
It's not Poland which send him. It's him who bravely offered his precious services to insurgents and then to Hungary where he became a very brillant head of army.

Nawrocki did the bare minimum with his visit to Budapest. Better than nothing, but it could have been so much more. Unfortunately, Putin Derangement Syndrome holds very strong.
Agreed, and he should have met with Orban last December on the sidelines of the Visegrad Summit in Hungary, not called off the meeting. At least he seems to have learned from that though, I wasn't so sure that he would.
Poland has a 800 year dislike of Russia and it continues to this day. Russia hardly cares it is a nuclear super power and Poland hhas no nukes. Why worry about Poland???

In 1939 Hungary's neutrality didn't matter because of the Molotov-Ribbentrop treaty.
It mattered for Polish-Hungarian friendship. It didn't matter for collapse of the Polish state in 1939.
