It's been an eye-opening and "black-pilling" experience to realize how rotten a lot of what I've taken to calling the Alt-Media Community is, but at the same time, I was truly touched by the messages of support here and on social media back when I fell ill in late August. That really meant a lot to me and restored my faith in the community's average members.

A friend was invited in on the false assumption that he'd be easily duped by their lies and shared all their messages with me. They gathered mods from several dozen Russian-friendly groups to tell them, without any evidence whatsoever, that I'm a "CIA spy sent to infiltrate Russian media"!
The reality is that they were all jealous of me for what I was doing back then, both with regard to Voice of Russia but also getting my MA at the MFA-run MGIMO, but surprisingly quite a few other mods immediately believe them and banned me. It showed me early on how wacky some people can be.
After all, none of these people knew me, they just heard someone else who they trusted or liked accuse another person (me) of something totally ridiculous, believed it because they're conspiratorially inclined (actually psychologically unwell and I don't say that condescendingly), and instantly acted on it.
In hindsight, had I known what they were going to do, I could have probably made up a bunch of lies about them in a group chat just for fun and got those mods to ban those haters lol Anyhow, it was an experience that I'll never forget, and the hate that I get "on my own side" far surpasses what I get from the other.
The reason as I've come to believe is that my work discredits their false claims about Russia being a global bastion of anti-Western hatred hellbent on taking over the world and wildly succeeding without any setbacks at all, and since I'm not arrested or deported like they want, they smear the security services in rage.
