The timing of this rumor is odd, given that Pakistan is struggling to contain protests in Kashmir and Baluchistan. It also seems to blame Pakistan (and China) almost more than it does Iran.

At the same time, Ukraine (=the EU) snubs Trump on Iran, refuses to make peace with Russia, and ignores U.S. advice re: attacks on non-Russian shipping. At least this is its PR.

Pakistan is trying to help Trump, however halfheartedly at times. Could this Reuters report be yet another "deep-state" effort to sabotage *anything* Trump favors?

Or is there more to it?

" Pakistan is seeking a multibillion-dollar bailout from the US, which recontextualized its US-Iranian mediation efforts as a bid to obtain the aforesaid... "

China could be that creditor...

but Beijing won't do it, presumably to avoid upsetting India or the United States.

Realpolitik is frustrating. :)
