Today's Serbia is surrounded by hostile nations that control all its export corridors. Plus, EU is always ready to strangulate them with nice democratic sanctions, if they do not obey.
Unless they want their economy completely wiped out, they have to participate in war against Russia.

The hard economic facts causing this balancing escaped my attention.

Every body wants their part of Ukraine but they will not get it as Russians & Ukrainians areIDENTICAL people. Russia has a 1200 mile border with
Ukraine.
