Accepting President Trump’s ‘peace proposal’ would leave Russia in a significantly worse position than it is at present, so I can’t imagine that President Putin will ever accept it.

The plan could more accurately be described as a means by which President Trump can extricate himself from personal involvement in and ownership of an unfolding military disaster with as little loss of face as possible, and without seriously unsettling his supporters in Congress.

President Putin seems to be doing as well as could reasonably be expected to manage the negotiation process to Russia’s advantage without completely alienating the American side, which is a difficult balancing act.

Rightly spoken, Mr Ludwig. Mr Putin is walking the tightrope with sincere intentions without jeopardising the core interests of his country which are largely coincident with the shared interests of humanity at large as well.

Putin’s early announcement of a Victory Day truce isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a calculated move to demonstrate strategic patience and seriousness about peace. Leaders act out of hard interest, not sentiment. By offering a ceasefire while standing firm on core demands, Moscow signals to Trump that it remains open to negotiation but refuses to surrender vital national interests. It’s clear: Russia isn’t playing games; it’s defending its red lines while giving diplomacy every last chance.

Indeed, Mr Paulo Aguiar. Russia is sincere in its intentions of pursuing a path to world peace, and is serious about dispelling misunderstandings that may have been evoked in minds of American interlocutors post their talks with Zelensky at Pope Francis' obituary gathering. Mr Trump the pragmatic realist, too, is not any Agent Krasnov as the deep state is seeking to malign him, but is on a "correction course" for the self-defeating disastrous paradigm of globalist orthodoxy which had hitherto dominated US stategy.

I hope Putin isn't under any delusion that Trump cares about anything other than Trump. Trump obviously doesn't have any concerns about Putin questioning his sincerity even Trump's C.I.A. and the Ukrainian F.S.B. just linked another Russian General. And he hasn't stopped the arms flow or intelligence sharing.

Trump has a mercurial personality. He's literally a Jekyll and Hyde character. He can't see his inconsistencies. There's no cognitive dissonance in his mind.

Even now the Trump administration is working on a deal with the former head of H.T.S. that would see the U.S. and E.U. drop sanctions against Syria in exchange for Julallani supporting Isreal and sending Islamic fighters to Central Asia to commit terrorism against China and Russia.

Trump isn't turning off the anti Russian activity, he's ramping up.

Trump isn't a moral man. He's a transactional man and he offers nothing without exacting a deadly price from his opponent or friend.

Putin needs to just stay the course and ignore Trump.

I think Putin is also trying to make sure the Ukrainians will not join the Victory day Parade with a few long distance drones. And if they do that would be a worldwide news item of a major violation. Since the top Russian political and military leadership will be present Zelensky might decide that this is a ‘legitimate target’ and give it a try as he is encouraged and financed by dozens of European governments. Most likely the price would be paid by his own hometown and the general population of Kiev but he does not like those people either.

It doesn't matter what Ukraine does, they will get fawning press coverage and Russia will be blamed.

Zelenskii could personally feed Ukrainian toddlers to savage dogs live on TV and we would only hear thst it didn't happen and besides, Putin made him.

Yes, it's a signal that peace is desired on the Russian side. It's also a good time to bring some Russian soldiers home to rest & celebrate while (now) experienced North Korean troops hold the line. Some of the major cities near the Dnieper are apparently besieged at this point so there's little need for daring frontal attacks at least there, at least now.

It's a good strategy for Putin to be the one to offer ceasefires, taking some of that initiative away from DJT who poses as the "peacemaker." He shows that Russia is, indeed, interested in a peaceful settlement that will satisfy Russia's objectives.

It isn't going to convince anyone who does not want to be convinced. Those who rule simply see this as further evidence of Russian dithering and indecision.
