RT’s Suspension Of A Hateful Anti-Ukrainian Host Set A Positive Example For Everyone
Seeing as how one of the motivations behind Russia’s special operation in Ukraine is to fight against the growing fascist threat on its borders, there’s no way that anyone in its society could ever in good conscience tolerate Krasovsky’s anti-Ukrainian hate speech that’s no different in essence from the same anti-Russian hate speech spewed by Kiev’s top representatives.
RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan announced Sunday night that her global media outlet was immediately suspending its contract with Russian-language program host Anton Krasovsky after his disgusting anti-Ukrainian hate speech. One of his recent guests said that he remembers Ukrainian children telling him in 1980 that “Ukraine is occupied by Muscovites”, to which Krasovsky said that they should have either been immediately drowned or burned alive.
Russia has absolutely zero tolerance for hate speech, hence why Simonyan promptly suspended his contract. Krasovsky’s call to kill Ukrainian children just because they repeated what their ultra-nationalist parents brainwashed them into thinking goes against everything that his newly restored world power stands for. President Putin explained at length in his magna opus from July 2021 that Russians and Ukrainians are historically united people, so this host was essentially calling to kill Russians.
Furthermore, the Russian leader reaffirmed as recently as this month that “we have always had great respect for the Ukrainian people, Ukrainian culture, Ukrainian language and literature, and so on.” A little over a week later he added that “many of our families know, listen to and love Ukrainian songs, Ukrainian culture” when explaining why he’s against some radical folks’ call to ban that language, which President Putin reminded everyone is also illegal in any case since it’s one of Crimea’s official languages.
By contrast, Kiev’s top representatives regularly spew anti-Russian hate speech with impunity. This was most recently evidenced by Verkovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk tweeting that “Everyone hates [Russians] and you make us feel disgusted.” He then suggested replacing the term Russophobia with “Russo-contempt” and “Russo-odiousness”. This coincided with Head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Alexey Danilov calling for the Russian language to be exterminated in his country.
Instead of being resolutely condemned by their government, society, and Kiev’s supporters abroad (including its foreign state patrons), these undeniably hateful attacks against Russians on the sole basis of their ethno-national and linguistic identity were ignored. Even worse, many on social media enthusiastically praised them. Hypocritically, these same people rightly condemned Krasovsky’s hateful anti-Ukrainian attacks, thus implying that they don’t believe that Russians have human rights.
The reality is that all people are equal and should always be respected as such regardless of their identity. Russia is completely against Hitler’s discredited supremacist conspiracy theory that someone’s ethno-national, religious, and/or linguistic identity at birth predetermines their political views and thus “justifies” taking so-called “preemptive action” against them such as discrimination or worse. Kiev, however, embraces Hitler’s infamous views as proven by Stefanchuk and Danilov’s hate speech, et al.
By promptly suspending his contract, RT set a positive example for how to respond anytime anyone expresses such hateful views about others.
