The problem with China-India is that neither side will budge from decades old positions on the (British created) border issue.

The other problem is that China continues to prop up the Pakistanis.

Both of the above are political hot potatoes here. Any leader who can be projected as bending on these issues will be attacked mercilessly by the opposing parties.

There are powerful vested interests in Indian media, academia, corporates and civil services which are compromised by CIA. If you speak to ordinary people minus axes to grind, most Indians are in favour of RIC.

Likewise Chinese support to secessionist movements in India and Pakistan are viewed auspiciously in India.
