I don't believe that decision makers truly believe that open borders are making their countries stronger. The switch from controlled to uncontrolled immigration is dictated by desire of business owners to reduce labor costs and desire of some politicians to weaken nation states on the way to federalized Europe. They are followed by crowds of head in the clouds leftists, who buy their official narrative.

It doesn’t seem ‘extremist’ to hold the view that citizenship should mean more than just possession of a travel document.
