China and India do not need to like each other. The two surely can compete on everything. However, there are not many reasons for the two to be hostile toward each other unless one insists their relationship is zero-sum. Himalayas should have become the best fence in the world to make good neighbors. Many dissidents believe the China-India border clashes were manufactured and persisted by an intransigent Xi trying to distract a domestic audience. However, China did not get the upper hand, and Xi lost interest. There are too many larger fires needing attention that a small border clash cannot distract from.

Interesting that whereas China "aligns" with Iran, India "aligns " with Israel yet India and China are seeking "alignment".
