‘Eurasia’s three most powerful civilization-states are increasingly coming together to revive their dormant Russia-India-China (RIC) format.’

What the Soviet Union and the Cold War was unable to achieve, what was the nightmare of a British geologist Sir Halford John Mackinder in 1904, was finally realized in the last three decades as America has walked into the Heartland like an elephant walks into a porcelain store. Mackinder has written The Geographical Pivot of History, describing a geopolitical possibility that is being realized today, a political unification of a major Eurasian territory (The Heartland) that can possibly rule the planet. He was thinking in terms of Northern Siberia and Eastern Europe at the time. The fact is that most of Siberia is barely populated still today. On the other hand, India, China and Russia represent a major part of the global population with matching industrial and military strength.

‘To be clear, Russia and China aren’t allies that would go to war for one another,’

That is true today in context of the Ukraine war. However, if the present conflict goes nuclear, Russia, China, India, North Korea and even Iran will have little choice but to join as a bloc for their own survival.
