Kharg island is essentially flat, treeless, inhospitable and within shelling distance of the Iranian mainland. Supposing US troops manage to land on it (which is a big if...), retaining control and resupplying is going to be an absolute nightmare. Good luck with that...

Dr. Andrew, thank you for an excellent analysis. If the Americans invade Kharg Island, it would not be a surprise if Iran blew-up the oil facilities.
