Remarkable how much stuff happens these days as an almost direct result of gas pipeline routing decisions. One would have thought that the relevance of CH4 as an energy vector would have started to decline by now. Or is that being more than compensated by its rising relevance as a basic chemical industry feedstock?

One other factor to consider is that Presidents Putin, Trump, and Erdoğan are all in their 70's. Obviously, time is running out for them. It will be interesting to see if Russia decides to make any compromises concerning the Ukrainian conflict before Trump leaves office. After Trump leaves the White House, there might not be any continuity in his successor's foreign policy initiatives.
