There’s No Factual Economic Basis For Biden To Demand That India Import Millions Of Immigrants
Biden’s smearing of India as “xenophobic” on factually false economic pretexts was a new low even for him and shows the depths to which the US will now go in its newfound crusade against that country’s international reputation.
Biden raised eyebrows earlier this week when he lambasted close American partners Japan and India as “xenophobic” for not importing millions of immigrants like the 7.2 million illegals that he has thus far over the past three years. In his words, “Why is China stalling so badly economically? Why is Japan having trouble? Why is Russia? Why is India? Because they’re xenophobic. They don’t want immigrants.” There’s no factual economic basis whatsoever at all to what he just scandalously claimed.
China’s recently reduced growth rate is attributable to its systemic shift from a developing to a developed economy, Japan’s troubles are due to its currency woes, while Russia’s incipient struggles – in spite of its remarkable resilience since 2022 – are related to sanctions against strategic industries. Immigration has nothing to do with any of this. Moreover, it’s patently false to lump India in with those three since its economy is growing by leaps and bounds, which these five news items indisputably prove:
* 3 September 2022: “India overtakes U.K. to become fifth largest economy in the world”
* 24 August 2023: “India to clock highest growth rate among top 5 global economies in foreseeable future: Finance secretary T V Somanathan”
* 5 December 2023: “India to become world’s third largest economy – S&P”
* 1 March 2024: “India ‘easily’ the fastest growing economy, IMF executive director says, as GDP growth blows past estimates”
* 24 April 2024: “India’s young population will generate 30% of global wealth – stock exchange chief”
India is also the world’s most populous country with no shortage of labor, hence why there isn’t any need to import immigrants. In fact, the ruling BJP has made illegal immigrant crackdowns an important part of its domestic agenda, though it’s been smeared as “xenophobic” for this by Western liberal-globalists as well as their fellow travelers in Indian academia and the media. As proven by the news items shared above, this policy had absolutely no adverse impact on economic growth.
With this in mind, Biden’s claim is exposed as factually false and driven by ulterior motives, particularly to discredit Prime Minister Narendra Modi as bilateral relations continue worsening. In brief, India’s refusal to subordinate itself to the US as that country’s junior partner is driving this trend, which has taken the form of a vicious information warfare campaign that’s intensified since late November. Lumping the Indian economy together with the Chinese, Japanese, and Russian ones wasn’t just factually false, but was also meant to be insulting. India is in a fierce multidimensional competition with China and therefore takes offense at being compared to its neighbor in any way, let alone a negative one. Regarding Japan, India is against the innuendo that its growth trajectory is about to stall like that island nation’s infamously did, while the Russian comparison ominously hints at impending pariah status in the West.
Biden’s hostile rhetoric against India was a new low even for him and shows the depths to which the US will now go in its newfound crusade against that country’s international reputation. India’s rapid rise as an independent pole of influence in the evolving world order accelerates the decline of American hegemony, thus explaining why the US is so obsessed with punishing it for refusing to become a vassal. After this latest development, there’s no telling what other lies the US might soon circulate about India.
