"History is being rewritten as a former senior official from the Biden Administration counterfactually claims that the US never wanted to restore Ukraine’s borders."

Right. Just like they never demanded to "defund the police", or declared that "you’re not going to get Covid if you have these vaccinations." Yawn.

It’s a MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD world. The only thing that can possibly save it is strategic sincerity.

I found it quite interesting that when this conflict started the immense support Zelensky received here in the US. He was being compared to Churchill after his United Nations speech. Ukrainian flags were waving on peoples houses. It was promoted like they were some major ally who needed defense from America against big bad Russia. Ukraine has been nothing but a breeding ground for lawless CIA activity that sought to undermine Russia. The CIA got caught (again) and Putin finally said he was done with this CIA Fuckery (which included and underground bunker office that went under the borer and into Russia). There was no reason really to let this get into a huge conflict except to hide the CIA’s incompetence. Ukraine lost Crimea over this too but it was an acceptable price to pay for the US to keep its spook network up and running which why no military stood up at that time. Ukraine was also more corrupt then. Im not saying it’s less corrupt now it just has different players. Zelensky is no hero and the Ukraine is no ally of the US. It’s a damn shame they lost so many people but now that it’s decimated the bigger money can be made rebuilding it. Reporting has been scarce from there too. What a colossal fuck up from the jump. Blinken deserves a lot of blame here.

You don't know the strength of your adversary to the last decimal place before you engage. And even then, the Russian posture before mobilization is light years apart from it 2 and a half years after.

Just a case in point: based on the Soviet incompetence in the Finno-Russian war of 1939/40 the Germans correctly calculated that IF all things stayed the same, Russians would be an easy kill. If Russians were better then, the Germans would probably in 1941 instead marched against the British interests in Middle East and India.

Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan.

All of the territory that has transferred from the Ukraine to Russia has been done legitimately through internationally supervised landslide elections.
