Putin will be crazy if he allows Trump to access Russia's essential mineral resources. The American corporates will treat Russian oligarchs with the same rapacious malintent as did the northern Unionists do to the southern Confederates after the American Civil War of the 1860's. Trump will unleash his "carpet-baggers" onto Russia's riches - that is all that he wants.

Those who have already read my comments know how much I am neither a NATO fan nor pro-Ukrainian.

That said.

That said, I admit I fail to understand these swoons and tremblings of young girls over the alleged brutality of "forced enlistments."

It is at best dishonest, at worst totally idiotic.

Ukraine is suffering a war of aggression.

I can guarantee you that in Western Europe, a country suffering a war of aggression always launches a general mobilization. Woe to the one who evades it.

As much as desertion and flight can be tolerated in the context of a colonial or aggressive war, but in a defensive war, the one who evades it faces general dishonor upon himself and his family, the harshest judicial prosecutions, and the gendarmes shoot at any act of rebellion, insubordination, and flight. A deserter would have every chance of being shot like a dog. Fleeing abroad could only be considered to countries without extradition agreements, and the family's assets would be at risk of seizure.

It is very hypocritical to shed crocodile tears on this subject. This is precisely the stupidity and deplorable heaviness of Russian soft power, which pities itself daily on the subject, when everyone knows that if Russia were to suffer an aggression from NATO, the mobilization methods would be even more brutal.

Ridiculous.
