"The purpose is to inflict such significant damage to Ukraine that Zelensky is finally coerced either by these attacks or consequent verbal pressure from Trump into withdrawing from Donbass in exchange for a ceasefire per the Anchorage quid pro quo that RT reminded readers of here."

As to why Trump would suddenly care is left as an exercise for the imagination.

There is no end game here, just thrashing about, killing people that nobody cares about because Russia is afraid to challenge NATO directly and cannot do what it takes to end the regime in Kiev.

What makes this interesting is that the war no longer feels purely military. It increasingly looks like a struggle over the future structure of power itself — energy routes, sanctions, elections, alliances, and who gets to shape the post-Ukraine order.

The strikes, then, may not simply be about battlefield gains, but about forcing political decisions before time and domestic pressures narrow everyone’s options.
