The US’ newly formalized control over the majority of Venezuela’s oil reserves and Caracas’ potential withdrawal from OPEC could see Trump 2.0 assembling a “North American-South American Petroleum Exporting Countries” group as part of the US’ power play for control over the global oil market.
China does not have a reliable long-range power projection ability. This is probably the largest reason Communist China has not shown much imperial attitude on the international stage. Chinese had an old strategy, formulated before Qin Kingdom unified China: "Diplomacy to the far side, and attack the neighbors all around". (There is a country in West Asia that clearly acts alone this line.)
AFAIK, China has offered weapons to Venezuela, but nothing was useful during the palace coup. Chinese people did not benefit from Venezuelan oil either, as the oil deal with Venezuela was monopolized by Xi's sister, who bought at 20 USD and sold to China's national oil companies at 60 USD, and it was China's national oil company that managed and paid for the transportation. In the recent Venezuela earthquake, a whole micro district of residential areas built by Chinese Contractors (only national companies can bid overseas) had a total crash without a single building standing. I don't think Venezuelan people have any particular good feelings about China or Chinese people.
By the way, what China learned from Japan after WW2 is that one can build a huge business empire and earn a lot of money overseas WITHOUT using military force. The whole idea of BRICS and its potential lies in the principle of being a business and trade cooperation organization. There is no point in asking what China's reaction is in this context. Frankly, China has neither the ability nor intention to interfere in America's business, at least not when the Americans are watching. In terms of strategic reserve, West Asian oil is a far better choice than Venezuelan heavy or Canadian tar sands. Imports from Russia are good for covering daily consumption.
China has 1.400 million mouths to feed every single day. Not a small feat. The volume of the Chinese goods trade with the 11 ASEAN countries is roughly 1 million million (a trillion), whereas it is 2.5 trillion with the US and US-aligned countries, which means 40 % of China's entire goods trade (in 2025). For the time being at least, Chinese government cannot afford any dramatic moves.
Do you believe that European can afford to not using russian cheap energy?
Do you believe that European can afford paying for Ukraine?
Do you believe that Europe can afford obeying to USA like a bitch?
And you know why they do it?
Because if they don't, all and everything is lost.
They hold their position in the wall of shields.
Seemingly, China is too dumb to understand that. If it Iran and Russia die alone and if it remains passive facing western shenanigans, then it will not be long before a new century of shame. Believe oe
Well, China and Iran are one of the world's oldest continuously documented civilizations, 5-6 thousand years, perhaps longer for Iran/Persia, and they are still up and running. I believe this should be taken into consideration. However, their mentality, as nations and as governments, has nothing to do with that of their judeo-christian (or rather judeo-protestant) counterparts. As for Russia, that´s another story. I think A. Korybko´s comments in the Comments section, especially for the article "Putin always wanted a truly independent Ukraine", are quite revealing.
Irrelevant. Being a 6000 years old civilisation didn't protect China to be the westerners's slave during more than a century. And it will not protect them if Iran and Russia surrender... or switch...
Concerning Japan, bad example. It spreaded and grew as long as it didn't bother USA. In the 80's, when it bothered it, USA broke Japan.
I wouldn´t say China has been "the westerner´s slave during more than a century". Rather, the West has tried for more than a century to turn China into their slave. So far, unsuccessfully, in my opinion.
As for Japan, the US broke Japan in 1945 (Hiroshima, Nagasaki), not in the 80's, and later on by installing Douglas MacArthur as their new emperor for the next 6 years. Only God knows what exactly he did to them, to the Japanese, during that period of time. But break them he did.
Well Hanna the Chinese themselves refer to it as a century of shame/humiliation, maybe not slaves but is there a great difference to be addicted to opium and your country is under the heel of a foreign power I wonder?
We’ll recall, here, the superb Russian bombers that landed in Venezuela a few years ago, leading people to believe that the Kremlin was seriously helping Caracas against U.S. interference, won’t we?
I argued for years that Russia wasn't going to militarily defend Venezuela and was once again canceled for it, with "Non-Russian Pro-Russian" trolls on social media denouncing me as a "demoralizer" and some even accused me of being a "spy".
" However, despite the conflict, Mujahid said Kabul now wants normal diplomatic relations with Washington, including the reopening of the US Embassy in Afghanistan and an Afghan mission in the American capital."
" Veronika Nikishina, the center’s head, told RIA Novosti on Monday that the overall distribution of fertilizer exports had changed little since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022. The US now ranks third among destinations for Russian supplies, she said, while Western Europe remains a larger market despite a decline in shipments this year."
" Vietnamese farmers are exhuming the graves of their ancestors in order to clear land for a sprawling Trump Organization complex set to include five-star hotels, upscale villas and a golf course, according to a new report.
The $1.5 billion project — seen as key to relations between Hanoi and Washington — broke ground last year in Hung Yen province, but has since sparked backlash from local residents, "
So the US has the right to invest, eh? with some benefits going to the US government? But the gov will not invest, it is cash strapped. The companies will not invest. And if it will become more and more evident that the climate is going south, and the only reason is the burning of fossil fuel, I don't know...
The main problem in South America is the comprador class, who would rather maintain its position and ability to extract. If that is done at the cost of submitting to the US, then be it. The situation is not truly replicable in Iran, China, or Russia, with all the three having gone in their past through true revolutions, not like the US, which was an oligarchical revolution at the bottom of it.
Also, the US cannot offer the products that China can offer, and everybody buys. Can try to restrict Chinese access to resources - we have seen how well that played with Canada.
Things are in the air and will continue to be for quite some time. And as there was an independence war in South America from Spain, there is likely to be one for independence from the US in a not too distant future...
Ok, and what is the reaction of China? It keep in snubbing India and let Iran and Russia die alone
Have I missed something or Chinese are that clumsy dumb they seem in their video in YT and tiktok

Just like in Syria, where so many Russian soldiers died... for nothing, Russia’s foreign policy is truly nothing to write home about.
As for Cuba, no Russian oil tankers have arrived there in weeks.
Realpolitik is fascinating—and so disappointing, at times...

Once more. Remember the jesters NRPR about Venezuela after Maduro's kidnapping: " hoho, it's not over, USA is far from controling the country..."
What jesters.
I see that in France, absolutely nobody publish Escobar no more.
The global South and BRICS will prevail !!
