I don't fully understand Budanov's power base within Ukraine. I had long thought that he was allied with the nationalists / Banderites. It seemed to me that Zaluzhny was also allied with the Ukrainian nationalists, and that there was somewhat of a rivalry between Zaluzhny and Budanov for their support / favor. It was reported widely that Zelensky replaced Zaluzhny because he was a political rival; I guessed that it was more likely an American effort to reduce the power of the nationalists in Ukraine. It seemed to me that one of the American red lines after Maiden must have been "no nationalists in power" - which explains neatly the total avoidance of ethnic Ukrainians on the ballot for President or in office.
Syrsky seems neutral with the nationalists to me - I suspect they don't like him based on his Russian ethnic background, but lack the power to displace him, either.
Budanov though seems to be marching in lockstep with Zelensky's administration. He took the promotion to the President's office. I could interpret him giving up his Polish decoration "in solidarity" to the Poles to either be a sop to the nationalists or genuine. I know he has the intelligence background like Putin; but Budanov is completely opaque to me on what his ambitions and positioning are.

I think Zelensky is far too emotional to be a leader, let alone a wartime leader. Over and over, he makes these unnecessary emotional and sensationalized statements that backfire on him.

Yes, I am Polish, but that's not why I'm following this closely. It's a major political rift between two allied nations in the anti-Russian coalition. And you're right, Poland continues arming and funding Ukraine, which I've criticized from day one.
There's a thread connecting the Polish and Ukrainian that few talk about. At the current pace both countries real assets will soon be owned by German capital (the great saver nation) reducing the locals to renters and low level employees.
Maybe it's time for them both to celebrate their common destiny?
