Defying two of the three Great Powers with the greatest influence over Serbia was an epic error of judgement, hence Vucic’s unbelievable claim about some vague “mistake” being responsible for this.
When I read Western msm on Putin I often wonder if they just look up to Vucic for inspiration. With exception of killing opposition members (Vucic dismantled them by corrupting anyone from opposition that can be corrupted), all the rest they write about Putin is insanely applicable to Vucic.
I was baffled by the anti US vote at first but methinks it could be related to the two juxtaposed protests currently in Serbia: genuine anti corruption protests and colour revolution leaches. Knowing that there is no opposition in Serbia, only Western serfs in power and spare Western serfs waiting to come to power (reminding Vucic that he is replaceable with another serf), it is possible that this is his trade for Euro Utopia to defuel its colour revolution in hopes that he can somehow win students protests.
Assumption made here is that it is EU that fuels the colour revolution bit which is concurrently going with, as I said, genuine student protests.
It is possible also that Kremlin knows that whoever replaces Vucic will be more aggressive in sucking in to EU aparatchik hence deals with the devil it knows.
With the exception of the border to Hungary, Serbia is landlocked into the globalist EU. I think it has half given up politically and wants access to the EU money streams.
Perhaps equally important is that EU sanctions can have a critical impact on Serbia, In the last 100+ years, Serbians have probably soured their relationship with all their neighbors. Without reliable access to the sea, it is hard for any Serbian leader to hold a stiff position.
"In the last 100+ years, Serbians have probably soured their relationship with all their neighbors."
Utter rubbish
In the last 100 years almost all its neighbours were fighting alongside with Nazis or any foreign power that wanted to defeat Serbians exactly all the time. Even communists fought against Serbians from within and now its president is fighting Serbians from deep within and is winning left right and centre.
If that's what you meant by "Serbians souring relations", then perhaps you'd be right. Alas, I am sure you meant msm junk, which has is easier to swallow.
Ps
Serbian leader holds a stiff position. Up the serbians' aft
Actually I am relatively pro-Serbia (no Serbian, though) I admire Serbians' stubbornness in WW1 and WW2. I can see why people like Tito would rise and why he (or any other leader at his time) would lean toward an iron-fist policy. However, my opinions do not change the fact that Serbians have fought against all or most of its neighbors in the last 100+ years, nor can I change the geography of Serbia. I was not talking about who was right or if an attack was justified. I see NATO's bombardment as illegal. I am interested in finding a workable strategy for Serbia, say, out of total academic interests or sheer curiosity. What works for Serbia may also work for all other land-locked countries.
More rubbish does not make previous rubbish right.

I can't be bothered if you like Serbs or Serbia. My comment was about facts, or rather, your corruption of facts.

Name one war in the last 100 yrs that
1. Serbians drew first blood,
2. Was not defensive and
3. Serbian neighbour waging war against Serbia was not supported by powers seeking destruction of Serbia.
.
Serbians did not fight its neighbours in the last 100 years, its was neighbours who fought against Serbia. Massive difference.
There is no such shyte as "stubborness" in fact the whole concept of existence of stubbornness is hocus. Serbians just don't give up no matter the size of the enemy and that is because Battle of Kosovo Polje myth which is in the foundation of the nation. Sometimes even against their best interest (The Great War)
That is not even in the general direction of a silly proposition as "stubborness"
The Serbian government subsists at european suffrance. Any resistance to eurodiktat and Serbia can expect treatment like Greece during the debt crisis.
I interpreted this within a framework of 1) Russia did not / was unable in the turbulent 90s to stop the NATO bombing of Serbia, the hyperinflation in the economy etc. 2) The US often has bloodthirsty cabal leaders who pick on small countries such as Serbia, and when Trump’s term is over, Serbia doesn’t want to risk another such episode. Look, it’s up to a renewed Russia and Trump’s USA to liberate Serbia and the rest of Europe’s peoples from the hidden overlords in Europe who are behind the warmongering and fear. They have 2 years to accomplish this or lose the window of opportunity. These countries in the UN voted against Russia and the US out of fear. Europe just cancelled elections, jails people for speech, etc. Vucic is trying to keep his people alive and able to buy eggs. He is not free to risk his actual voice.
Vucic does what keeps Vucic in power.

Trump is playing chess while the rest of the EU is playing checkers.
