Informative and well-argued. Shows the limitations of the multi-polar movement. The US considers Latin and South America as its backyard and acts accordingly.

Informative? An exercise in speculation from the first to the last word?

As I pointed out in the article corresponding to the Bolsonaristas' assault on Brasilia, Lula is a center-leftist who finds himself in a delicate balance between the United States and the BRICS.

There is no doubt that his government is still under the threat of a coup promoted by the far-right Bolsonaro forces and that he needs to consolidate power, in an adverse political scenario due to the lack of a majority of his PT party, and its allies, in the Brazilian Congress.

For the rest, we must not forget either that in his previous government Lula actively collaborated in the criminal occupation of Haiti promoted by the US, Canada, the UN and the OAS. Time will say if his new administration is capable of strengthening Brazil's contribution towards a multipolar world free of hegemonies. For now, it seems that Brazil still needs time and that Lula's government will be similar to that of the Amlo pseudo-left in Mexico.

Interesting your use of "center left" and "far right."

Kinda like getting your hand stuck in the cookie jar but denying you were intending on stealing some.

If Lula is a darling of Biden and the WEF...which certainy appears. to be the case...whatever else it makes him..."globalist jackass" is at the top of the list.

Absolutely! Yet highly dangerous

As one who supports the other side there was never a threat to Lula. Just as the first time it is the PT that puts journalists in jail and trump's up charges. Not Bolsonaro. And no one is FAR RIGHT.

Great analyses as always! In fact, no country in Latin American continent is free enough to challenge the US supremacy in the region as shown now in the Brazilian new gov. President Lula has a very narrow margin of maneuver to deal with Washington without antagonizing the Empire. Although he appears to support a multipolar world, his government lacks the strength to launch any move away from Washington. Geopolitical conditions are different these days, and internally, his own government is completely infiltrated by the American deep state.

Lula was a pragmtic shill for the neo liberal international organizations. Center left he never was. He was a far left authoritarian tyrant

An exercise in pure speculation with touches of propaganda rhetoric from QAnon brainiacs! And now let's go to them! Firstly, Brazil is not on the rise but in recession. Lula's Brazil for the first time in history before the crash of 2008 ascended to the 5th world economy! Today it is outside the top 10 and in many ways it has gone back 20 years with Bolsonaro. With whom the author identifies in many points! Like the abortion that the left has decriminalized and very well, first of all for the sake of public health. But since it's not André, the shoemaker puts iron in his ass... In my country they say pepper in other people's asses is refreshment. Unlike medieval minds like André who think they own women and also play with global warming?! Go tell that to the islands in the Pacific that have already disappeared as part of the territory of the Samoan Islands with hundreds of people swallowed by the sea. And all the extreme events that have been happening across the globe. Or for a change, talk to a climate scientist! And finally, the pandemic that the ignorance of beasts like Bolsonaro and financial gansters like Trump did not fight, with horrible morality rates. That I only hope will one day lead them to a court of law for crimes against humanity. That's why Bolsonaro fled Brazilian justice! And to make it easier, I continue with my tweets on André's twitter!

1-The attack on Lula continues. But I would like to know where the BRICS partners were for stop CIA 2015 color revolution who overthrew Dilma's Govt and that trapped Lula, preventing him from win 3rd Term as President? When was UNASUR going to integrate MERCOSUR and CAN into a free trade space in South America? 2- With Head Office in Quito and Central Bank in Caracas with a common currency to get South America and Caracas oil out of Washington's clutches! For a multipolar NWO! But today 80-year-old LULA can only issue one mandate for UNASUR and lift many Brazilians out of poverty again! 3-And political schizophrenia today results from the left embracing agendas of crooks demagogues like Steve Bannon! The left has nothing to learn from extreme right. Neither patriotism! The function of left today is to take the deregulated world out of financial markets and neoliberals hands. 4-The richest 1% who already own 50% of the world's wealth steal every year from the real economy to tax havens. For a multipolar NWO again based on the UN Charter and international law!

And just an addendum for those who don't know that the peak of our civilization was reached in the 70's in the European social states! Rights conquered after the war, which neoliberalism began to steal in the 80s without much reaction from the European population lulled by consumption! But even a child understood that sooner or later the scandal of wealth distribution broke out. Like any credit bubble. When 1% of the global population already own as much wealth as the remaining 99%! Which makes me be without any doubt with Russia in this war! For the Kiev regime but above all for the underlying economic issue. With the US in a panic let the rest of the world default on its debt! What can still lead this war where no one wants!

5- Lula's Brazil is not only a founder of the BRICS, it was an ideologue! And at that time Obama would also pat him on the back! Lula is the only living politician capable of taking Latin America out of Washington's clutches! That's why he was jailed for 580 days! Respect! 6- With 4 years ahead very difficult! With a Congress very far to the right and Bozo fans, capital and reactionary militarys that made this 8th Jan to harass Lula. That doesn't confuse his socialist agenda to lift many Brazilians out of poverty again with promises neoliberals or far-right conservative siren songsthat only want power for power's sake and when achieved even the wall money they steal like thug Steve Bannon!

Another fantastic article. Listening to his inagural address were all DC and Davos talking points. Zero about Multipolarity. I suspect that the new left is more interested in US and Davos integration.

Is Lula authoritarian? Where?

He was always authoritarian and he continues to be. Deporting foreign journalists that he didn't like. Running witch hunts with NGOs agogo.

Increasing the prison population from around 150000 to over 700000 while dreaming of building a thousand prisons.

A real champion of liberty.

And his new proposals in the past couple of days for long imprisonment for anti "democratic acts" is alarming.

Comrade Korybko, there is a detail missing in your analysis of the Tupiniquim semi-colony circus. It is not necessarily Lula who is promoting this entire agenda, but rather his government base of agents of the empire. For example, Haddad, but it could be understood to include several other political figures directly linked to the interests of the Open Society Foundation, the British Crown, and the IMF agenda. Haddad was one of the main agents of the privatization of public higher education. Now they are trying to move into basic education, which is one of the busiest areas in terms of labor in Brazil. And so we could go on with various agendas (identity, environmental, climate, etc.).

This is the result of the "Broad Front" with various agents and parties that ultimately contributed to the impeachment of Dilma in 2016.

The thing is much more complicated, but, as it is Lula who is apparently in charge of these decisions, outsiders cannot see that it is precisely the government that is occupied by agents of foreign powers, which do not necessarily follow what Lula thinks for the country.

The intention, in the end, is to leave the country with a fragile institutional situation so that an agreement can be made where the protagonism would be given to the vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin, a hawk from the political mafia that we usually call the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB), the party that consolidated the Washington Consensus agenda in the 1990s. The intention of putting this imperialist agent as president is to continue the destruction of Brazil's agro-industrial park, concentrated especially in the state of São Paulo, which controls the country in financial terms.

Obviously these sectors would be the targets, for as much as the Brazilian buying elite is ideologically linked to imperialism, the pragmatic commercial link of Brazilian agriculture with China and Russia shows how complicated the situation is. Even more so with the BRICS situation, where there is a real media campaign around the 'ncessity' of Brazil leaving the Global South arrangement. The greater the institutional confusion, the better for the interests of imperialism.

I would very much like Lula to receive the two Tupolevs at the Brasília airport, just as Maduro received them at the Caracas airport... It would be the only alternative for establishing Brazilian sovereignty. But Lula is not Maduro, and Brazil does not have a population mobilized against coups like Venezuela has.

Ainda bem que Lula não é Maduro! Senão quem salvava a Venezuela? E ainda menos do Brasil!
