Yes, Putin has shown great patience, but, Russia will never use nukes, and it doesn't have to. If Putin wanted he could have use all sorts of missiles, drones, sea and air based missiles to destroy Kiev, Livov, Odessa, and anywhere else he wanted. His strategy is the old Ali "Rope-a-Dope" to wear down Kiev, NATO and the USA. It's working. Russia has lost very little compared to Ukraine which is a wasteland and non-functioning state; NATO has shot itself in the head, and the USA is about to collapse economically, and politically. Russia can clearly see what has happened across the EU, and also the decay and collapse that is happening with increasing speed in the USA. Russia can afford to wait. As has also been pointed out many times here, the BRICS is growing rapidly, and also rapidly moving towards creating its own SWIFT system and trading in their own currencies. This spells doom for the US dollar.

America is stronger than it’s been since before 9/11. I would tell Putin America did a lot of dumb things under Bush which is why Trump so easily took over the GOP…and yet in 2024 we are still the strongest country on the planet. Super powers can do dumb things and recover from them…so Putin just needs to pull out of Ukraine and focus on building LNG infrastructure and pick a few value added manufacturing industries to focus on and move forward like America did after Bush/Cheney. We tortured and slaughtered hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims and we don’t care.

Your first sentence is exceptionally dumb. Last is completely psychopathic. Keep it up, Pang!

You didn’t know America tortured and slaughtered innocent Muslims just so Bush would be a two termer??? You are one dumb SOB!!! 😂

Putin & Co understand how clinically insane and stupid NATO are and by not retaliating, Russia is driving NATO even crazier, if that's possible.

Why would Russia attack western bases? Who would this satisfy? The Russian people are not on the streets looking for blood, after them, nobody else matters. The sick bastards in London would love the Russians to bomb German or Polish bases, this would play right into their plans of completely destabilising central Europe.

Putin doesn't have the patience of a saint, he has the wisdom of his ancestors who for over 1000 years have been dealing with the loonies from the west.

Russia will attack those bases that are sending off F-16s armed with long-range missiles. They will maybe get the one plane off, but never again a second. That's how you deal with such threats. And if they wish to announce WWIII, then so be it. I'm afraid there goes eastern Europe (and that includes all those calling themselves "Central Europeans" as well).

Don't kid yourself. Russian indecision and unwillingness to escalate in the face of provocation after provocation are what led to this.

The West was sending billions to Russia for their natural gas…how is that provocation?? Putin killed the golden goose for some crappy territory in Ukraine and old mouths to feed.

Expand full comment

"crappy territory in Ukraine" happens to secure how many hundreds of billion$ in western loans?

Expand full comment

Uh, nope. Degrading Russia’s military is why we are sending Ukraine military equipment.

What you style patience, the West sees as contemptible weakness and an opportunity to double down.

A few years ago, such actions would have been unthinkable, but Russian dithering has made them almost commonplace.

Had Russia acted decisively from the outset, none of this would have happened.

Atleast the end should be a lesson ( Ukraine incorporated as a republic in Russia) to states who want to fight for NATO/ EU

Expand full comment

First, Russia has to do this. Talk is cheap.

I think russia should mobilise. What is to stop NATO incursion into western Ukraine a la kursk if russia doesn't even have troops to fight.

Expand full comment

Probably necessary at this point. Had Russia acted decisively from the outset, the whole thing would have been done and dusted long ago, such as with Georgia in 2008.

Perhaps they are damaging and occupying the west , which also benefits a number of states on the yanks shit-list, to a greater degree with this "undecisive" way.

You are like the people that care about Palestinians!?!! So weird! Our factories are making equipment for NATO and American combat deaths are at 20 year lows…those are good things! I opposed Iraq from day 1 and Afghanistan once we started waging war against the Taliban…so it’s strange to see Americans care about foreign events more than when we were sacrificing our best and brightest to slaughter innocent Muslims!?!

With every failed provocation, the West is exposing itself as incompetent, hotheaded, and lacking even the most basic skills of warfare. Every amateur on social media recognized the lunacy of the Kursk invasion -- but apparently the big shots in the US, UK and Poland thought it was a great idea.

I would say that the West knows exactly what they are doing. They are evil but far from stupid.

no, they are evil and stupid.

Is it possible that Putin is waiting for the elections? If Trump wins, Putin need do nothing as Trump will probably dissolve NATO as he has previously hinted or at least broker a ceasefire. If Kamala, he can step up and push back.

Lindsey Graham and Ron Johnson easily manipulated Trump to send lethal aid to Ukraine in 2019….Trump is just so easy to manipulate that Republicans don’t worry about any of that stuff. Plus we are energy dominant thanks to Putin’s asinine invasion and the energy industry is the most powerful Republican special interest group…that’s why Speaker Johnson switched his vote.

It is interesting to compare Ukraine vs Russia and Israel vs Iran. Clearly two strategies are at play: US wants to provoke, while targets of US play it cool. I think USA wants to use nuclear weapons but needs a pretext strong enough. If they cannot achieve one by provocation, they will try false flag sooner or later. It seems folks opposite USA have not done enough to present their cases to the non-West community. The front without front needs some extra effort.

Expand full comment

If the United States wanted to use nuclear weapons, they would do so, and a pretext manufactured as necessary.

Expand full comment

Good point. There is no need to wait for Ukraine or any vassals to create a pretext. A USN destroyer and a couple of hammers could make one. No need to sacrifice 10K lives and 100 armored vehicles. However, there is some differences between picking a fight with NVA vs picking a fight with Russia. If US elites have not learned the difference, maybe one Abrams tank and a few hammers would do this time.

Unless and until those elites themselves pay the price, they could not care less.
