The point is to provide a prestext for NATO to intervene. They know exactly what they are doing, as does NATO.

Cynical? Yes. So what?

False flag operations will happen, and uniformed Polish troop will enter the current western Ukraine, one way or another. I think Russia needs a solid bridgehead on the west of Dnieper ASAP. Krivoy Rog and Odessa must be controlled by Russia. Ditto for most of the east bank of Dnieper. If there is a remaining Ukraine somehow guaranteed to be neutral, I would say OK to grant them Kiev. If there is no solid assurance, Kiev should be controlled by Russia. Plus at least a 100-km wide safety belt on the west back of Dnieper. The whole war was not supposed to happen without the imperialism of the West. By now, I think Russian leaders cannot insist much on protecting the historical artifacts of the Kievan Rus. It is the two remaining brothers who have to take priority over Kievan Rus.

Then what is Russia waiting for?

Israel is launching unlimited provocation all across Middle East. US diplomatic and military attention are focused on the ME side. Ukraine is now in a damage control mode -- to limit the damage to USA, regardless of damage to Ukraine. Once Trump is up, Putin would have to cut some slacks for Trump. After all Trump is more unpredictable than the Deep State. In comparison, Russians have figured out the DeepState more and have fewer problems to handle Harris. After all, President Harris would be subject to Obama control even more and Obama understood Ukraine problems better than Biden. IMHO, it is better to get some good results in the next six weeks. So what is Russia waiting for? I don't know. Obviously I have overlooked something else.

Israel is launching unlimited provocation because it can, and has the green light to do so. The US is confident that it can handle multiple wars at once. If nothing else, Gaza/Lebanon can be put on the back burner and the populations there exterminated from long rage, while NATO invades Ukraine.

Trump is unlikely to be elected, not that it will matter. n.b. you will not hear a peep of protest out of Obama concernign the War On Russia. Simply that most of the West overestimated Russia, in the sense that they thought that the Russian leaders were as ruthless as they are.
