Hilarious. One nation selling oil to another nation is taken as good news. While 1/3rd of the worlds children who suffer from malnutrition are from India. A country who’s capital has become a GAS CHAMBER with 25 million people. While the other nation uses the same Fossil Capital to wage war, fuel geopolitical conflict and raise a tiny class of thug billionaires. Only a moron can see this as a great thing. I say all this as an Indian, who knows the reality of my nation way better than what says Fossil Capital propaganda. Now take that as the 6th real takeway (pizza).

Indians are known for their diversity of opinions, most of them being garbage

Your wordcel vomit is basically that. Fact free, exaggerations, without any context

I say that as an Indian

You see facts busted all your lies and Deshbakhti. New Delhi is a GAS CHAMBER. More Cars, More Pollution, 20+ million people breathing more and more CO2. Also check UN, UNDP figures about Children in India suffering from Malnutrition.

Alas your Denial is worth 1 rupee.

Hence f*ck your wordcel vomit. That is called education. Par Ho Toh Aap Wahi Gawar Bajarangi Hindu Lund, Ek Aur Andhaa Deshbakht, Right ?! Now Get Lost. I am Indian too and sufficiently educated unlike you.

R*tarded take. Where is this gas chamber ? You mean an open air city ?

Pollution in industrialising nations is not new you dolt. China had the same, Poland had the same, UK the same. India is not especially bad in this phase of development

1/3 of world's children suffering from malnutrition ? What exactly does this mean ? Provide exact numbers and sources.

India is a food surplus nation. Malnutrition amongst kids is generally not due to lack of food, but bad eating habits like junk food. This is an individual fault, not some national defect

The historical trajectory of Beijing and Delhi are entirely different when it comes to air pollution. Even though they might have been roughly similar 20 years ago.

China has an interest in the health of its people, it puts them first knowing that a healthy economy will follow.

India puts a healthy economy first and expects only those who can afford it take care of themselves.

A country that puts profits ahead of public health, like India and the US, will eventually be complicit in the early deaths of large parts of its population.

I was in Delhi in 2020 the air was the worst air pollution I have ever experienced. Even though there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, it was never blue. I blew black and brown out of my nose all day. You could only get clean air if you paid for it. Those who couldn’t breathed it all day and all night. Never in my life have I seen a people so utterly abandoned by their government.

What you say in sheer denial as “retarded” is reality. Now listen. I was born in Delhi late 1970s, brought up in Delhi. The air quality of Delhi has gotten worse and worse since then because of massive unchecked urbanization, cars, fossil fuels and pollution. It is a GAS CHAMBER by All Means Right Now. Read - https://edition.cnn.com/2024/11/20/india/delhi-pollution-clinic-smog-climate-intl-hnk/index.html

Check dozens of stories by NGOs on Indian children suffering malnutrition.

India also has the highest child wasting rate in the world at 18.7%. And 35.5% of children under five are medically listed as having their growth stunted,

Only an idiot like yourself points to “individual fault” while ignoring every ecological disaster brought on Fossil Fuels and Industrialization. A true jackass DESHBAKHT as we call them back in India. Also stop telling Lies - India Is NOT A FOOD Surplus Nation.

F8cking Fossil Capital moron, who thinks burning oil is great and New Delhi is not a gas chamber

Interesting points. It's an imperfect world, isn't it?

Well, I think he means the deal is good news for Russia. Korybko is unmistakably writing from that perspective despite his efforts at "geopolitical neutrality." I guess you think Putin had some better option than throw down over Ukraine? Seems like it was either submission to NATO and eventually Russia largely cut off from the Black Sea--certainly from the major ports or take action.

What's you view on what India's priorities should be? Normalizing the relationship with China and getting trade and investment flowing between the two?

I'd also be interested to know what you think the best solution for the border issue is.

There is no perfect world. However this hoodwink of India and Russia is done with. As in the entire thing is an outcome Fossil Capital, which itself is destroying the planet in a range of ways. You have no care nor concern of that, and hence prefer to spend you time over NATO, borders, China, Russia, X and Y. How cool is that. And is how exactly folks prefer (check the pathetic comments below) to keep mewling about politics.

China would be wise to compromise on the gas prices. Not only does Russia have other markets, the Chinese are also about to feel

The full weight of the Trump administration trying to squeeze them.

Expand full comment

Yeah, at some point, China may feel the need to transition away from the US as a supplier and it would be good to have Power of Siberia 2 close to ready to go when that happens. When the strategic situation dictates, China will be willing to pay a higher price. The question is how badly Russia needs to sell more gas in the interim.

Good analysis, as usual from Andrew...

With one caveat, imho: China is, and has proven to be a reliable Russia's Partner...

But "too smart" India, belonging to QSD (Quads), a military alliance obviously intended against China... Dunno...

And what will India pay for the oil with over the next decade ?

Expand full comment

I guess my question is, when we talk about gas supplies to China vs oil shipments to India, are we comparing apples to oranges?

I agree that long-term, there shouldn't be much problem dealing with both China and India--at least in the energy sphere. Power of Siberia 2 will probably happen at some point, assuming China's economy continues to grow over the long term. Sooner or later it will be worth it to the Chinese to pay higher prices than they are willing to do now, and the security situation with the US is likely to make Russian gas even more attractive.

Part of the problem, it seems to me is that, just as Russia wants to diversify buyers, China wants to diversify sellers both for general security reasons and because it wants to sustain buyer-seller relationships and the associated strategic benefits with a host of oil and gas producers. It may not need a lot more Russian gas now, given slow post-COVID growth, but it will in the future. The only question is how badly Russia needs to sell more gas in the interim.
