Alternatively, the hugely unpopular French and German presidents are running up their mouths, desperately trying to remain relevant. Nothing new about the Polish establishment.
In a way too depressing for my mind to respond too… so many tentacles in so many pies - yes dreadfully mixed analogies but I fear that’s where I’m at. Some days I genuinely wish I was completely ignorant (again). Alas, I’m sure after a cup of tea I’ll be ready to face up and stand up to evil again. Thank you for your continued effort!
The governments of France Germany and Poland are already undermined by strong populist tendencies and now grabbing for anything to stop populism. It was the lack of political activism from the general population for over a century that opened the gates for armies of psychopaths to manufacture self-destructive wars and Ukraine is just the latest example. We are literally watching a strengthening populist wave in the last decades as it moves across Eurasia and this is what we need. When Macron – in his barely sustainable position – is whining about sending his army to Ukraine and spreading a nuclear umbrella he is doing that only because his own citizens did not break enough eggs on his head. The ground is shaking under his dirty feet and his days are counted. The answer is: We the People have to reconstruct public order based on successful government structures like the Swiss Canton System and the Greek and Italian City-States.
Thank you, Andrew for this overview of the aspirations of these EU powers. In my opinion, Trump will smack down any real attempt by France to extend a nuclear umbrella over US NATO allies. The concept that France can use its nuclear soft power outside its own borders is risible; the USA will never allow this. Regarding Rumania and a future French intervention in Ukraine from that country in an attempt to protect Odessa form a Russian advance on that city - I think that is very unlikely, mostly because Trump will never extend protection to French forces fighting inside Ukraine.
Importantly, it is not clear to me that the US would be harmed in any way by Russia detaching Odessa from Ukraine. On the contrary, Ukraine without Odessa would become more tractable to Russian and US influence. Ukraine without its Black Sea coast would become less valuable and more of an economic drag on any power (i.e. Germany or Poland) seeking to make rump Ukraine a satellite. If Europe continues to pursue its independence from the USA, then burdening Europe with devastated Ukraine is in the US interest.
In Europe, the USA holds all the cards. There are many different ways the US can create chaos by playing favorites, and none of these possible maneuvers will harm the core interest of the US which is keeping Europe geopolitically weak.
Been to Poland last year, stunned with progress over the last few decades.
They seem to have the original capitalism in full swing and little of EuroUtopia "values " among the populace. My experience, from how it was experienced, supports inclination it is a good sample of major group if not majority of Poles. They will be the powerhouse of Europe (NOT the same as EuroUtopia) in foreseeable future

The only nations that have real pants shitting moments when Ruskies are mentioned is rabid Baltics. Hard earned by them. The rest are simply trumping the military spend for the sake of MIC. No real fear.
French inglorious rifle dropping in WW2 will take centuries to wear out, and Krauts... I doubt anyone trusts the Rise Of the Krauts outside economics (the distrust is permanent). Poles are untainted in that sense. Their relations with Russia can be improved as western 8nfluence wanes and reality sheds the nee light. Europe may finally be turning to be led by Slavic subgroup and away from the worn out Westworld ways.
BUT
To draw any meaningful conclusion, we all have to wait for post-Trump world. Next "biden" or "clinton" may just unravel everything Trump has done in the sphere of multipolarism and de-woke-isation. We'd be back to Biden era in a jiffy
None of this matters. Poland is about to commit the same kind of national suicide like France and Germany as its going to be forced to take in tens of thousands of " migrants. Goodbye Poland.
France? Puhlease. Germany not allowing the peoples voice to be heard disqualifies them. Poland just had a press conference with S. Korea to announce the military alliance and tech they have and Poland will purchase should tell Europe they plan on being the big dogs in all this. Just because France has nukes should automatically be any reason to take them seriously. Until that country quits being the liberal cesspool that it’s been it’s very hard to take them seriously as any hard ass leader for Europe. Poland being as close with the US already makes them the clear choice in my opinion.
