Egypt considers itself an aspiring hegemon that expects to wield transregional influence over North Africa, East Africa, and the Levant. It feels challenged by Ethiopia’s peaceful rise as a developmentally driven and fiercely sovereign Great Power due to the zero-sum influence exerted upon its decisionmakers by their American ally.
Good writ. I would like know if there is any support for Ethiopia from any of the Eastern African neighbors or the AU. Not that it is necessary, Addis has a right to develop its Country with the natural resources that it has and that includes any of the other Countries at the source of the Nile, Lake Victoria, as long as International Law standards are observed and regional stability is prioritized. Egypt appears to be acting with a superiority complex not observed since the long gone Colonial days.
