Mali and Burkina Faso, who’ve earlier accused France of supporting terrorism, should cooperate with those countries of the Lake Chad Basin Commission whose recent summit saw Nigerian President Buhari warn about the flood of Ukrainian arms into the hands of regional terrorist groups in order to jointly investigate Paris’ suspected role in this transcontinental network.

What few seem to appreciate yet is that it was the plunder from Africa that had been propping up the dysfunctional French Fifth Republic for decades, not to mention the African foreign reserves held in Paris that France has used as collateral to borrow huge sums of money for its bloated bureucracy.
The Fifth Republic is unlikely to survive this and that in turn could bring down the whole of the EU.
This news reminds me of the USSR's role in anti-colonial struggles in the 1970s. It also makes me wonder at the impulse towards colonialism. It seems to me that like 'Russian Empire', a "been there, done that" attitude should prevail.
