There's nothing inexplicable about some Christians believing that the Jews must be restored to Israel before the Second Coming. It's a fraud, pure and simple, that started in the 19th Century with an American religious snake-oil salesman, then amplified by Hal Lindsay's "The Late Great Planet Earth" back in the 70s.

It was latched onto by a lot of the "evangelical" Protestants shortly thereafter. The Book of Revelation and dire predictions of the ever approaching Rapture and End of the World sell better than "Love your neighbor."

Mike Johnson comes from that carnival barker religious background. Fortunately, that's a minority opinion among American Christians, and pushback is finally materializing. 30 Christian ministers were arrested for blocking the US Senate cafeteria this week. They claimed that Senators shouldn't eat until Palestinian children do.

We will see more of this as more horrors emerge from Gaza.
