With all due respect to this influential columnist, he’s totally wrong about the reasons why Indians regard the US as their second “greatest military threat” behind China as well as the solutions that he proposes for changing this perception.
Bottom line is what can US do for India? Force the oil companies to sell oil at discount like Russia does. Indian people from what I know might not be highly literate, but are not definitely stupid. The people can be influenced with propogonda for a few days, but when the inflation gets out of hand then they will revolt. Just look at Sri Lanka India's neighbour to the south, the President of the country followed the Green Revolution of Saint Greta Thornberg causing food shortage etc and was driven out of his palace. Like Lincoln once said "You can fool some people some time, but not all people all the time'
It blows my mind that the US routinely appoints ambassadors with no knowledge of the country they're appointed to mediate with. Obama's Russia ambassador McFaul was so stupid that he bragged on Twitter about not knowing Russian.

Wolfowitz Doctrine IS the problem. India wants to be a peer, and USA policy is to weaken, if not destroy, any nation before it can become a peer.
